With Riddick (Blu-ray review) now available in stores, we've gotten hold of an imagining of our favorite Furyan's universe in an easy to use, interactive star map. Each of the planets on the map has hotspots that contain facts, images, and other content that gives fans a more in-depth look at the setting of the trilogy.
While the map doesn't reflect every aspect of the Riddick universe - and we certainly wouldn't advise it as a navigational tool - it definitely presents a jumping-off point for fans to discuss their favorite characters, scenes, and moments from the action-packed sci-fi franchise!

Behold, the power of cheese! If, after the perceived failure of The Chronicles of Riddick, you said that there would be another Riddick movie – and a full ten years later to boot – most people would think you were crazy. Even crazier to say that the new film would be demonstrably awesome. The Riddick movies were always a bit of an acquired taste: the first a surprise hit that helped make Vin Diesel a star, the second a big-budget epic that marked his gradual descent. Now the third movie arrives with its intended audience firmly in mind, which is part of what makes it such earthy fun. Hit the jump for my full review. It succeeds in part because it doesn't deny its true nature. The Riddick movies belong at the drive-in, or even better, on the cover of those old pulp science fiction magazines of the 1930s. Indeed, some of »

Vin Diesel finds himself cast adrift on a distant and deadly planet in sci-fi horror Riddick, the long-awaited continuation of his Pitch Black saga. The grizzled antihero's latest outing - available to watch online now without a subscription, thanks to blinkbox - pits him against vicious aliens lurking in the shadows and a gang of mercenaries out for his blood.
Here are five reasons why you need to stop what you're doing and watch Riddick right now.
1. Richard B Riddick goes back to basics...
After the big-scale space opera of The Chronicles of Riddick, director David Twohy brings the action back to the confined spaces of Pitch Black for some tense, brutal action set across a sun-blasted planet. Expect this to keep you on the edge of your seat for the duration.

They should’ve brought more mercs to bring down Riddick.
Here’s the synopsis:
Left for dead on a sun-scorched planet, Riddick finds himself up against an alien race of predators. Activating an emergency beacon alerts two ships: one carrying a new breed of mercenary, the other captained by a man from Riddick’s past.
We discussed about the trilogy, playing a merc and the difference between doing live-action versus voicing/mo-cap in video games.

Longmire and former Battlestar Galactica star Katee Sackhoff jumped onto the big screen last fall to play the ruthless mercenary Dahl in the long-awaited Vin Diesel sequel, Riddick. With Riddick hitting Blu-ray & DVD today, the 33-year-old Oregon native talks to ETonline about why the similarities between Dahl and BSG's Starbuck don't bother her; her tomboy upbringing playing "cowboys & Predators" in her Portland backyard; the status of her all-female version of The Expendables; and how she pretty much asked her dad for permission to do her first movie nude scene!

ETonline: From Halloween: Resurrection to Galactica and Riddick, you obviously take on a variety of projects, but you keep on coming back to sci-fi, horror and fantasy. Are you a fan of those genres when you're sitting down to watch TV or go to the movies?
Sackhoff: Oh, for sure. I mean, not horror – I tend to think that there's enough things in my daily »
Vin Diesel returns for his third go-round as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy. The film picks up some years after the events of the previous film, The Chronicles of Riddick, with Riddick left for dead on a sun-scorched planet and forced to defend himself from an alien race of predators. Though Riddick required many visual effects, it was important to the production team to not have the entire film shot on green screen. Indeed, they wanted sets that could anchor the actors in their environment. Production designer Joseph Nemec designed the … Continue reading →

This week: Carrie and Riddick make awkward returns; You're Next is a horror keeper; and Oprah Nation takes The Butler to the bank. ► The long-awaited and quickly discarded Riddick shows why movie hyperbole can be so tiresome. For years, we supposedly wanted a Riddick movie that didn’t drop a deuce like ‘The Chronicles of Riddick.’ We wanted a return to the ‘Pitch Black’ universe. »

Directed by David Twohy.
Betrayed and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick fights for survival against alien predators before activating a homing beacon that sees bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descending on his location, only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge.
Nine years after last donning the goggles, Vin Diesel is back for a third outing as the escaped convict, murderer and antihero Richard B. Riddick as he and writer-director David Twohy strip back the bloated excesses of The Chronicles of Riddick and look to revitalise the franchise by returning to its Pitch Black roots with the sci-fi survival horror Riddick.

★★★☆☆The return of interplanetary badass Richard B. Riddick may well have come as a surprise to anyone who saw 2004's sluggish sequel The Chronicles of Riddick and witnessed its subsequent below-par performance at the box office. Undeterred, franchise star Vin Diesel (no doubt encouraged by the sizeable returns from his endlessly money-spinning Fast & Furious franchise) has shepherded this third entry, Riddick (2013), into production, with director David Twohy back on board. Together they've concocted a handsome sci-fi actioner, but have ultimately failed in bringing about a satisfying close to the trilogy.

After last week’s onslaught of new stuff, it was perhaps inevitable that this week would be something of a comedown with not much going on. There is some worthwhile new stuff added, the John Milius documentary for one which has debuted on Lovefilm the same time as DVD more or less and, of course, a contender for the worst film of all time. I have used this opportunity to catch up on some titles that were added last week and I didn’t have space for which are definitely worth writing about. I hope you enjoy.

Nolan Funk is taking the acting world by storm! He's starred alongside Lindsay Lohan in "The Canyons," sang on "Glee," posed shirtless for Versace and is a bonafide action star in "Riddick." The actor's certainly proving that he's extremely versatile and isn't afraid to take risks.toofab's Rachel Hoffman caught up with the 27-year-old ahead of "Riddick's" Blu-ray release, to talk about everything from working with LiLo to his next big roles. "Riddick" is definitely more of an action role for you — how did you prepare for it?Nolan: I hit the gym with a bunch of wrestlers I was working with. I really wanted to know about the world I was going to be a part of, so I spent a lot of time watching "Pitch Black" and "The Chronicles of Riddick" -- just figuring out the world and creating Luna. That was a really exciting character for me, »

Director: David Twohy
If ever there was a character that let success go to his head, it was Vin Diesel’s intergalactic outlaw Richard B. Riddick. Then again, if ever there was a character that deserved a second chance and redeem himself, it was the gravelly-toned skinhead. My love of David Twohy’s cult science-fiction thriller Pitch Black knows little bounds. The indie film was one of the stand-out genre entries in 1999 and arguably gave birth to the best conflicted antihero since Kurt Russell’s Snake Plissken. Granted Riddick’s not as cutting edge in the clever and comedic wisecracks but his sardonic put-downs were as sharp as his weaponry. For me, Pitch Black is Diesel’s finest role to date and while his return some four years later with overindulgent sequel The Chronicles Of Riddick »

"...the latest chapter of the groundbreaking saga that began with 2000′s hit sci-fi film 'Pitch Black' and 2004′s 'The Chronicles of Riddick' reunites writer/director David Twohy and Vin Diesel, reprising his role as the antihero 'Riddick', a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy.
