"How dare he die! He didn't have my permission!"

Having loved the Jetlag/Golden Girls/Burbank Animation/Burbank Films animations as a child, I have been slowly re-visiting them amidst my several music commitments and several other quests(relating to films and music) I am getting through at the same time. Puss in Boots I cannot say for sure whether it is among Burbank Animations' best or worst, but I have to say I did enjoy it. It has a good story that goes at an efficient enough pace, nice music and snappy dialogue(I especially enjoyed Yurak's at the start). The characters are appealing also, Puss is both cunning and likable, the King is amusing and Yurak is wonderfully villainous right from where you first see him. There are some assets that aren't as convincing, the animation has some fluid colours but also character designs that could've done with a more elegant and less scratchy feel, and the voice acting while good in the case of Puss, Yurak and to a lesser extent the King is a little bland in characters like Carebas and the Princess and cheesy with the peasants in the opening scene. Overall, a decent effort and recommended. 7/10 Bethany Cox
