More Slapstick.

Riding upon the success of his earlier series, 'The Charlie Drake Show' was a little more ambitious in its scope. It was better financed and had more famous guests. But Poor Charlie was abused and knocked about as always. He was not quite so ill-treated as time went on, especially since he was knocked-out on a live show (see 'Charlie Drake'). I think he also began to fancy himself as a more all-round entertainer. Which he wasn't.

He'd made his name by being thrown around like a rag-doll. And that's what most people who watched him wanted to see. The other things he thought he could do were already being done by others, and with far more skill.

The format staggered-on until about the mid-sixties before age, the truth, or an un-renewed contract brought it to an overdue conclusion.

Unlikely as it may seem, he had a reputation for being an insatiable womaniser.
