This film is saved by its sex scenes, barely....C+, 2 June 2003

"Desire and Deception" is one of those softcore films that isn't good to
start with, but gets better as the film goes along, then fizzles out toward
the end.
We start with Bridget Roarke (Kelli McCarty), a woman who suspects her
husband, Eric, of cheating (like we haven't seen this before). She hires a
P.I., Melissa Howard (played by Gina Ryder) to trail her hubby to get proof.
At this point, I feel like I've watched this film or something like it a
dozen times already. Come to find out, he is cheating--with a woman named
Kate Collins (Holly Sampson). Upon learning of this, Bridget isn't
heartbroken; she's determined to get even.
Kate is in love with Eric, or so she thinks. Her husband, Oz, is also
playing the field--he's sleeping with his secretary, and it seems that she
knows about it too. Their marriage is definitely one of convenience. Eric
wants to break it off with her, but Kate won't let him.....until she turns
up dead a bit later in the film, in Eric's bed, no less. Eric is now the
primary suspect, and he spends the rest of the film trying to clear his
name.
The lead detective in the case, Ray Barner (Erik Carrington) enlists Melissa
for help in solving the case, since she worked for Eric's wife for a short
time. They work closely--and I do mean closely--together, gathering clues.
By now, it's a simple whodunit, and it's certain to be someone close to the
action that nobody expects at first. In short, this was a quick and
painless movie that was heavy on the sex and light on the script; what one
would expect from a softcore film. However, the bland, cookie-cutter
storyline did nothing for me, so I had to take points off there. This flick
wasn't tapeworthy as an entire film; I was better off just taping the sex
scenes and calling it a day.
Women: B+ (Kelli McCarty was decent as the leading lady, Holly Sampson was
her usual best, and Gina Ryder was absolutely fabulous. I know Gina mostly
does hardcore porn, but she shines in the few softcore flicks she
does.)
Sex: A (Very realistic sex scenes, almost hardcore quality. Slapping,
grunting and moaning was included in almost every scene. Gina's sex scene
on the couch was the most realistic. Gina puts her "porno goddess" talent
to good use there.)
Story: D+ (I'm sorry about this, but I can't forgive just how bad the plot
and dialogue of this film was. The initial storyline, however unoriginal it
might have been, I can forgive if it was executed a little better. I've cut
slack on many STSWB movies over the years even though the general plot is
the same, but this one was just bad.)
Overall: C+ (Although it should have gotten a B-, I'm lowering the grade by
another third because of the horrible script. I loved the sex scenes, and
the women were nice to look at, but the lines these characters had to say in
this film were just plain awful. This film is slightly above-average by
softcore standards, therefore it gets a C+.)

Desire And Deception indeed. Spoilers., 26 August 2003

Once again, we have yet another Marc Greenberg production. Will wonders ever
cease?
This sexer is about two married couples. All four of them are having
extra-marital affairs when it's all said and done. The husband of one couple
is seeing the wife of the other, while her husband is cheating on her. The
other lady has dalliances with men while she's on business. In other words,
full Kobe.
Apparently, Kate Collins (Holly Sampson) wants Eric Roarke (Scott Bomson)
to dump his wife for her because she's unhappy with her marriage to Oz
(Charles Gleason) and he's unhappy with his to Bridget (Kelli McCarty). Then
one day, Kate turns up murdered and the police thinks Eric did it because he
was afraid Kate was going to blow the whistle. What we get is another steamy
Whodunit.
Surprisingly, the movie's acting is decent. The females seem to be a bit
hush in their lines, but they do a much better job than usual. Hilariously,
the guy who plays the detective trying to solve the case, Eric Carrington,
looks like my boss at work. I said "My God! My boss in in this pic!". The
"philosophical discussions" are very well done and the women look very nice,
with no tan lines. They were very nice to look at. My only complaint was
Kelli McCarty's hair; I though it looked horrible on her and didn't match
her lithe body or her face. It isn't 1946 any more, Kelli. Of course, L.A.
looks as perfect as usual, too.
Not a bad film, if you can get past Ms. McCarty's horrible 'do, this is one
of Greenberg's better efforts. Just don't be like Kobe.

Kelli McCarty deserves the watch., 18 August 2006

Oh come on... how could someone not like a bad b-soft core sex movie
with the gorgeous Kelli McCarty? She's for sure the highlight of this
regular erotic thriller. In fact, there isn't much of thriller or
drama. The movie goes directly to the point and focuses mostly on many
sex scenes. Two especially good scenes involve the always hot Ms.
McCarthy. The rest of the sex scenes are just to fill in some empty
space.
I can only recommend this movie for fans of Kelli. If you like women
with beautiful, almost angelical faces , with a spectacular yummy body;
then you will enjoy Kelli's performance.
Rent it or catch it on cable.

Horrible acting and thin plot. Just bad fake sex., 27 March 2003

Bad, bad, bad! This movie has horrible acting and a thin plot. Just watch
it
if you want to see bad fake sex. There is plenty of it.
I came across this one while "surfing." The only reason that it stayed on
was to find out who some of the people were. The database didn't have the
character names or I wouldn't have spent more than five minutes on this
stinker. It was playing merely as background and that was enough to get
the
tiny plot!
