Storyline

Acclaimed director Abolfazl Jalili offers a compassionate story of the young Afghan refugee who lives illegally in Iran. 14-year-old Kaim drifts to the Delbaran crossing on the Afghan-Iran border, where he finds work at a coffee shop frequented by truck drivers. He feels at home in this small oasis of friendliness, though the sounds of war can be heard in the background, violent bandits prowl the roads, and opium is everywhere. As we watch Kaim run from one task to another day after day, we soon realize that we are watching a boy who is being cheated out of his childhood. Written by Anonymous

state of soul
10 June 2014 | by (Romania) – See all my reviews

like many Iranian movies of last years, it is a testimony. about reality of a space and society, about the difficulties of people in bitter situations. this testimony has the virtue to reflect a state of soul. Delbaran is not an exception. only a ball of nuances. the coldness, the fight for survive between countries, the war and the force to resist, the wisdom against the adults blindness of young Kaim are pieces for a battle for hope. the image is steel and ice. each word and smell escapes from screen. the music, the faces, the dialogs - all as forms of survive. and hope. a necessary movie. not for understand a place. but to discover yourself.
