The main theme song to the show is "The Click" by Good Charlotte. There are many Good Charolotte references in the show. There is a poster of Good Charolite in Cal and Nitz's room. The band also made a "live" appearance in episode 12.

Some of the books in Rocko's room include "Abnormal Psychology for Drunks" and "Things Cal Does That Make Me Want To Kill Him Dead Dead Dead Dead Dead". He's also been seen reading a newspaper that says "Naked Oaf Ruins Lesbian Rally" (obviously in reference to himself).

At ConBravo 2013, show creator Pete Williams said that the Canadian version of the show features a different voice for Rocco than his own, citing that the show needed a certain amount of Canadian actors in order to receive tax credits.
