Storyline

Simon is a bespectacled young boy with a penchant for chalk drawing, whether it be on random walls around town or on his own chalkboard at home. However one day, Simon meets one of his creations come to life, Henry, and after properly completing drawing him, Simon is led to the Land of Chalk Drawings; a land where everything Simon draws comes to life. From that moment, Simon has numerous adventures that often spring from his idle drawings in the real world, which has a bad habit of creating serious problems in the Land of Chalk Drawings. However, with Simon's creativity, and a steady supply of chalk at hand, the boy is able to create any solutions needed to save the day. Written by Kenneth Chisholm (kchishol@rogers.com)

Completely Charming
4 November 2001 | by (North Carolina) – See all my reviews

This cartoon was shown on Captain Kangaroo in the late 70's. The theme song "And you know my name is Simon, and the things I draw come true...." has been tucked in my head for the last 20+ years. Simon would climb over the garden wall to reach the land of chalk drawings. There, as is suggested, everything was a chalk drawing. The style was simplistic yet completely charming and almost stylized. I'd love for this to be released for purchase and I'm sure many of my age who grew up on Captain Kangaroo would agree.
