Storyline

Peter has a dream job. He's a popular magician in a posh Prague nightclub, whose act draws more applause than the strippers. He's got an eye-catching assistant who is ready and willing to cuddle his frayed nerves whenever necessary. But he's also got Sylvia on his neck: a pert, scatterbrained sister who forgets that a toss in the hay may just be worth a wedding ring. Things take a turn for the better - or worse? - when he discovers he possesses extra - let's say, supernatural - powers that enable him to see into the future, hear music by rubbing his finger over a CD, and God knows what. The problem? Peter can't control anything any more like he used to - neither his magic act, nor his love life, nor his sister's latest erotic fantasy. Written by Anonymous

If only I could believe any of this

Normally a performing magician does not have any supernatural powers. His act is carefully worked out with mathematics, slight-of-hand, mirrors and all manner of trickery. We know that and enjoy being fooled.

But Mr. Varek our magician in this film does have some strange problems. For example, he can hear music when he rubs his finger on a CD, his "burning head" act goes all awry when his female assistant unaided starts to levitate above the stage, and when he makes love to her after the show a white pigeon flutters out from between their bodies. A rather ticklish situation, you could say!

He seeks specialist advice. The diagnosis...he has supernatural powers...and like a disease it can create enormous problems.

This original story sets us wondering what can possibly happen next.

It's competently played out in a smallish Prague night club, a brain surgeon's rooms and a psychiatric hospital. There is a sub-plot in which the magician's sister experiences difficulties in finding a dependable husband, but thanks to the magician she finally succeeds.

I like the twist at the end when a man picks up a CD and rubs his finger over it. Take care....Did you know that supernatural powers like the flu can be passed on?
