Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra to re-edit Aks

“In an Amitabh Bachchan film, its best to go for the negative character”, says Manoj Bajpai

Manoj Bajpai is known for his strong characters portrayed on-screen. The actor who has won many accolades for his roles in movies like Shool, Satya, Zubeidaa and Raajneeti amongst many others has been paired yet again opposite Big B in a negative role for his upcoming movie Satyagraha.

The National Film Award Winning actor prefers to do a villainous role while sharing the screen space with the mega star. He feels that no other character stands strong enough opposite Amitabh Bachchan and thus it is better to do a negative role.

“In an Amitabh Bachchan film, there’s no other role which is better than his. In such a situation it’s only the negative role which is as good as his, so it’s best to go for the negative. I must say in films like Aks, Aarakshan or even Satyagraha now, the roles were written very carefully,” said Bajpai.

Rakeysh Mehra ropes in Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy again for Mirza Sahiba
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are back in the thick of things. Though during last couple of years they haven't been as prolific as before, their association with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra on Bhaag Milkha Bhaag has worked for the composer trio. For Mehra's most ambitious film till date, Mirza Sahiba, they have been roped in as the composers. "They really bonded with Mehra during the making of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag," informs a source, "The filmmaker wanted complete dedication from all involved into making of this bipoic and was highly impressed with the compositions that Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy came up with. It was a difficult soundtrack to be put together as the music was entirely situational. Soon enough, Mehra was sure that it would be Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and no one else for his romantic action affair set in the contemporary times." This is pretty much an association that has made heads turn since for his two previous films,

Raveena Tandon wins best actress at Houston

Raveena Tandon wins best actress at Houston
This week Raveena Tandon has much reason to rejoice. She has won the Best Actress award for her performance in Sudipto Chattopadhyay's Shobhna's 7 Nights at the Houston Bollywood Film Festival which concluded on October 7 with the announcement of Raveena's triumph.

Interestingly, there is only one acting award at the Houston Bollywood Film Festival which covers both the male and female category of nominations. Raveena therefore beat competition from Abhay Deol and Emraan Hashmi in Dibakar Bannerjee's Shanghai to get the award.

Squealing in delight from Houston after the announcement, Raveena said, "I've hardly received awards in my career so far. I did get the National award for Daman. But that was a one-off thing. I thought I deserved recognition for Shool and Aks. But I was seen as glamorous commercial actress. Hence, not eligible for awards. Now when I've played the most glamorous role of my life, I get the Best Actress award.

The Muppets Tackle Bollywood in One Last(?) Parody Trailer

The Muppets Tackle Bollywood in One Last(?) Parody Trailer
[1] We thought we'd seen the last of The Muppets parody trailers with that one parody trailer [2] that parodied the Muppets' own parody trailers (so meta!), but our fuzzy friends are apparently having some trouble breaking their addiction. So Kermit and company are back for one more round, with Bollywood as the latest target of their gentle ribbing. There isn't much about this trailer that's really new, but in typical Muppets fashion it's adorable, self-aware, and above all, fun. Watch the trailer after the jump. [Empire [3] via The Playlist [4]] According to Bollywood Life [5], the song used is "Rabba rabba," from the 2001 film Aks. If the voice sounds familiar, that may be because you recognize singer Sukhwinder Singh from the Slumdog Millionaire song "Jai Ho." As we get closer to The Muppets' November 23 opening date, the marketing team for the film has really been ramping things up. Last week saw the release of

“My character in Aarakshan had to be very real and very believable.” -Manoj Bajpayee

He not only changes his look but also his manner and his voice. He truly becomes someone different with each new character he portrays. This actor slips so deeply into a role that while watching him on screen you find yourself wondering, “Who is that?” And it is not until you check the movie poster or the cast list that you realize you have seen another amazing performance by the fabulous Manoj Bajpayee. In his second film with director Prakash Jha, Manoj is once again virtually unrecognizable in Aarakshan. How could this be the same actor from Jha’s Raajneeti? This time he plays an arrogant and brilliant teacher named Mithilesh Singh who represents the commercialization of education in this film about the policy of reservation in India. Always so nice to take time out of his busy schedule (and this time from his new baby daughter) to talk with us,
