The theme park, in reality Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, the section of the park is Gotham. Mr. Freeze (the ice blue coaster that goes vertical), Batman: The Ride (the yellow and black coaster) and the Flashback (the red and blue coaster with multiple loops) can be seen through out the scene.
Juni's full name is Juni Rocket Racer Rebel Cortez. Rocket Rodriguez, Racer Rodriguez and Rebel Rodriguez are the names of Robert Rodriguez's three sons.
When Dinky Winks first appears, the rollercoaster behind him is the Titan; the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in Texas. Through the park, you can also see the Oil Derrick, the Dive Bomber Alley, the Batman, the Texas Chouteout, the Wildcatter, Mr. Freeze, the Shockwave and the Flashback.
One of the gold items Carmen picks and tosses away in the treasure chamber is the small gold idol from the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981).
Second film shoot entirely using High Definition Progressive Scan Digital Camera. Director Robert Rodriguez bought two digital cameras after comparing digital vs. film.
According to Robert Rodriguez, the theme park at the beginning of the film was originally going to be Disneyland, but Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington was used instead.
Most of the movie was filmed in Texas.

This was Ricardo Montalban's first film since The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988) 14 years earlier. He only appeared in television not movies during the intervening years.
All the rides in this movie in the first scene that are mentioned by name are computer animated. The Whippersnapper is the Oil Derrick at Six Flags Over Texas, with Computer Animated movement, the NerveWracker was the Dive Bomber Alley with Computer Animated movement, the Vomiter and Juggler were both completely animated.

The scene where Gregorio has a hard time combing back Juni's hair is very similar to a scene from Four Rooms (1995), an earlier film of Antonio Banderas.

Oscar nominated director, Richard Linklater (Boyhood (2014), Slacker (1991), etc.) and his daughter, Lorelei Linklater have a cameo in the movie. At the OSS banquet, Lorelei and Richard are seen when all the adult operatives have been drugged.

In the movie, Juni says he is going to leave the OSS and Carmen says he won't. However in the next movie, he has left the OSS and is a private investigator.
