Hmmm, a slovenian comedy?
matija-trost4 October 2001
Whoa, this one is though... ...why? Well, partly, because, there's a weak history of comedies in Slovenija (just remember pathetic Babica gre na jug) and partly, this one is sadly, there's not many actors who know how to act in movies.

Heh, not a strong position to give a positive grade to this one, huh. But, hey, after i saw this movie, all, i can say....not bad, not bad at all.

Sure, most actors still act as they are afraid of camera and there is some problem with a scenario, but one the other hand, there are some original jokes, not already seen in "Hollywood-type) production. As i expected Jernej Kuntner did his part correctly (though he appeared in only few scenes), on the other hand, there are a lot of reserves in beautiful Katarina Cas, who will hopefully show more in her upcoming projects. And offcourse, I must not forget "the newcomers", who carried the most work in the movie. I guess they did their's best in this circumstancies. Anyway, if you want to see the average-slovenian high school life in mid 90's, rent this movie. And put your brain off.

5 out of 10, ahhh and extra plus for bring my memories to high school:)

Could be better. However still brave and interesting.

OK. I watched this movie three years after it's theatrical release and I must say that I wasn't all crazy about it however looking back at the time it was made it definitely set the precedence (along with Jebiga) for low budget feature films in Slovenia. It was made from scratch (if we compare it to other state-sponsored feature films) with amateur actors and extremely young and inexperienced crew (which is clearly seen in the movie couple of times). Of course it could be better however it took a lot of courage to make it and of course a lot of enthusiasm. As I said before it also set the ground for the low budget filmmaking in Slovenia. Feature films V Petek Zvecer and Jebiga (both budgeted at around $25.000 for production) showed that movies can also be done in Slovenia if you bypass the Slovenian Film Fund (although they both received money for postproduction from it) and just go out and make it. Both movies could be much better however given the time and money (they were both shot in 14 days) they both look and feel fresh and different from standard Slovenian film production. Some say worse, some say better. I say welcome! Aftermath of their release was over a dozen feature films made using the same formula. We could definitely say that together V Petek Zvecer and Jebiga started a new wave of filmmaking in Slovenia.

You will laugh at the jokes of the movie and forget the fact that it is not so sleek as Hollywood productions are.

I have seen this movie on TV since I missed it somehow at the time of cinema release. The reviews for the movie were mixed, so I was kinda hesitant to see it. But I checked it on TV and was very pleasantly surprised. The acting is admittingly not top notch, but the jokes (and there are plenty of them) are hilarious. The story is very basic and simple and is not that important. It is more a series of connected jokes than anything less. The movie tells about a bunch of high school kids and how they party, fall in love and so on. There is also a great bit parodying well known Hollywood movie Men In Black. This is I believe the cheapest film ever shot in Slovenia and quite interesting in that regard since a lot of micro budget movies followed. This movie and the ones that followed represent sort of a new wave of movies in Slovenia and they brought the audiencences back to cinemas in droves. There was quite a lot of talk about that movie on the internet since it was produced by a well known Slovenian internet company. It will be interesting to see what will follow next. If you have an open heart and you are not uptight you will laugh at the jokes of the movie and forget the fact that it is not so sleek as Hollywood productions are
