Sex & Nudity

A soldier is seen masturbating over a black and white photo of a nude woman.

Violence & Gore

The film is set during The Great War and violence plays a key part. A battle scene is shown in which soldiers shoot and stab each other with rifles and bayonets.

Large amounts of dead bodies are shown, often tangled up in barbed wire. A man is consumed in barbed wire, killing him.

A paralysed soldier discovers that rats have been eating his legs, a large amount of gore is shown here.

Gunfire amongst the British soldiers is prevalent.

Profanity

"Fuck" is used flippantly and frequently. Other swear words, such as "shit" and "bastard" are also used.

Many soldiers are seen smoking cigarettes.

The film is a horror and an element of suspense is built up. Fear plays a large part in the film. A battle scene is shown in which soldiers are attacked with poisonous gas.
