Trivia

The surfing Pikachu obtainable in this version using Pokémon Stadium or from Nintendo events has been referenced before on the anime - as "Puka" who was a Pikachu with blue eyes belonging to a surfer. Gaining this Pokémon also unlocks a special mini-game, "Surfing Pikachu". See more »

Pretty much the same.

Pokémon yellow? Everything is the same, only different. You start off with Pika- Pika-Pikachu, and your rival starts with Eevee. How you play the game will affect how Eevee evolves. But Pikachu will never evolve. If you are lucky enough to have Pokémon Stadium, you can go into lots of hard battles, and come out with a Pikachu that can learn Surf. Then, you can play the Surfing Pikachu game.

All in all, this game is a little samey to the red/blue versions, but it is still a good time waster (not really!). Actually, it's a pretty fun game to keep you occupied until Gold/Silver arrive, even though thats a pretty dated piece of news, even Pokémon Crystal is out now, but if you don't want the same game with extra features, this is not for you. But if you cross out the 'don't' and 'this is not for you' and you do like the remainder 'if you want the same game with extra features' then add 'this is for you'. Happy Gaming!
