Excellent cartoon reminiscent of Screwy Squirrel
20 June 2005 | by (New York) – See all my reviews

This is by far one of the funniest cartoons I've ever seen. Sledgehammer O' Possum, whom I can best describe as Screwy Squirrel on crack, abuses the hell out of this poor dog whose only crime was trying to eat a hot dog in the forest. The dog gets decapitated several times and eventually winds up in a full body cast and a wheel chair by the end. And the funniest part is, he really did not deserve any of the abuse. God I wish they made more of these. It's rare to find a cartoon as zany as this anymore. Tex Avery would love it.

This sadistic cartoon is actually very reminiscent of Screwy Squirrel, a Tex Avery character from the forties that was also over the top. You will find yourself sympathizing with the antagonist in this cartoon, because he truly does not deserve the abuse. It's also similar to the Simpsons' "Itchy and Scratchy" in that way.
