This Flemish sitcom is entirely about the entirely wacky lower-class family Backeljau, which always speaks the most common Antwerp dialect. It consists of father François 'Cois' Backeljau, his wife Maria, the rather cunning Bomma ('granny' Thérèse, his mother), the even older pet (in dog years) Blacky, their son Franky and his wife Janine, daughter Sabrina and her husband Antonio and little nephew Lionel, the youngest but more intelligent then all his dumb relatives together and various lovers, friends and regular guests, such as the mailman and the policeman. "Familie Backeljau" is a comedy series about a family, existing of 5 people. Or should I say 6, 7 or 8? It's The father: Cois, the mother: Maria, the sister: Sabrina, the brother: Franky, the grandmother, Franky's (now ex) girlfriend: Jaenine, Sabrina's (ex) boyfriend: Antonia (Who kinda is in the mob, should watch to know) and last but not least: The dog: Blacky And the very regular guy: Marcel (who is nerd nr 1)
The jokes are all very funny, the acting is different then any other show, but not bad! Very fun to watch. The show was quite popular in Flanders. At the end of 2001, they started rerunning this show. It now has a small, but strong fanbase, and "Familie Backeljau" has become a cult show.
Watch it, it's hilarious!
