Liquid News is essentially entertainment for the bored who have a vague interest in anything involved with the world of entertainment. A glossy look at all the latest happenings in showbiz, with celebrity guests thrown in to comment on today's news. Its very basic, but its also fun and the guests make it worthwhile. The stories are handled well and it rarely trails off and becomes unwatchable. The late Christopher Price, a genuine treasure of a man, originally fronted the show. Price was like no other presenter on television, clean and precise in his delivery, and skillfully able to cut down celebrities if they became intolerable. Cheeky, often caustic, he will certainly be missed. Since his untimely demise, the show has been taken over by new presenters, which are passable enough, although not always capable. Julian Clary occasionally presents, and he's entertaining, if a little predictable. But please, to whoever is responsible, get rid of Claudia Winkleman, possibly one of the most inept personalities working today. For want of a better word, she's just useless. Oh, and she isn't funny. Not in the slightest. Still, that aside, Liquid News is still a welcoming show, and if you want to keep abreast of entertainment news, then you can't really go far wrong with this. A simplistic yet enjoyable programme.
