The character of Reba was originally going to have the name "Sally," but Reba McEntire decided that because she had such a loyal fanbase from her singing career. Naming the character "Reba" would help her fans connect to the show.
Reba McEntire, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, and Steve Howey are the only cast members who acted in all 125 episodes.
Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman (Barbara Jean) are best friends in real life.
In the episode titled "Have Your Cake," Brock tells Barbra Jean that she needs to lose some weight. In real life, Melissa Peterman had given birth to a baby boy in October 2005.
JoAnna Garcia Swisher (Cheyenne) and Steve Howey (Van) appeared in a music video for Reba and Kenny Chesney's song, "Every Other Weekend" together. The two were unnamed but played a divorced couple that share custody of their children and exchange them "every other weekend." Despite the fact that they are divorced, both characters state that they still love each other but are unable to tell each other in front of their children because of the questions that would arise.
The only time Reba said Barbra Jean was her best friend was in the series' ending final episode, Reba: The Kids Are Alright (2007).
Christopher Rich and Steve Howey are the only cast members who are actually from Texas.
Nell Carter, who played the first family counselor, passed away in 2003 of a heart attack.
Reba tells Jake that she was born in McAlester, Oklahoma. McAlester, Oklahoma is Reba McEntire's hometown.
Reba's middle name is Nell. Nell is Reba McEntire's middle name in reality.
Jake's full name is Jake Mitchell Hart. Jake is played by Mitch Holleman.
After the fifth season, the show was picked up by The CW because UPN merged with The WB to form The CW. However, the show was not picked for a full 22 episode order. Season 6 was given at the last minute for a mid-season replacement if any shows got cancelled or were put on hiatus.
The show had three different opening credit sequences, with same theme song in its first three seasons. New opening credits photography was done seasonally the first two seasons. Seasons four, five and six were the same as season three.
Kyra's full name on the show is Kyra Eleanor Hart.
Reba McEntire and Christopher Rich co-starred with Kenny Rogers in The Gambler Returns: Luck of the Draw (1991).

Scarlett Pomers (Kyra) went into treatment for an eating disorder and therefore only appeared in two episodes of Season 5. When she returned in Season 6, jokes were made about Kyra's absence? such as Van asking, "Where have you been?" to which Kyra replied, "I went to get something to eat."
