Pauly Shore is Dead is inspirational not because of the story it tells, but because of the story of the film and it's creator. I only bought the DVD on the most extreme suggestions of people I respected, due to my hatred of the man's previous performances. All I can say is that I was stunned.
Somebody that I viewed as talentless turned out a performance that is nothing short of classic. It's probably been 3 years or more since I laughed so much at a single movie. Everyone, from Pauly to every single cameo, makes fun of themselves. That is what makes this movie great. Whenever you see a celebrity, you know they are going to make fun of themselves and not try to put themselves over. That kind of selfless comedy is what makes this film great.
I guess sometimes people who get famous for shtick really are talented beyond what we have seen. This movie proves, to me, that in at least one case that is true.
