As the Hollywood Reporter states, this is a "must see" Lifetime Channel Movie. Laura Innes is superb in the lead role and is backed up by terrific supporting performances. True to life stories such as this is, are often rather boring, predictable and full of cliche. Not so with Taking Back Our Town. It engages the viewer and moves along crisply building suspense all the way. Especially enjoyed seeing young and talented Hallee Hirsh (namesake?) playing Laura's character's daughter. She was believable and charming in this role and shows her tremendous range as an up and coming "One to Watch".
Truly Laura Innes is wonderful in this movie. I would highly recommend it to all her fans. The movie on whole was fantastic. Based on a true story this was wonderful to watch, it shows with enough determination you can accomplish anything. Ruby Dee is a fantastic actress and she doesn't fail to deliver here. Innes and Dee work very well together. Hallee Hirsh plays Innes' daughter in this movie, she does a better job of acting as Innes' daughter in this than she did playing Greene's daughter in ER.
Hally Hirsh who you know played Pat Melacon's (played by actress-director Laura Innes) daughter on Lifetime's network 'Taking Back Our Town', will reunite with Laura Innes's character Dr. Kerry Weaver on NBC's "ER" which is on Thursday nights at 10pm. Halley's character will be the trouble making daughter of Anthony Edwards's character (an 'er' star) Dr. Mark Greene. watch "ER" on your NBC affiliate. (Check your local listings) for NBC network.
Laura Innes,"ER", stars in the movie that critics called, "A Must See Movie! The talented Laura Innes gave her best performance ever! ". Laura Innes (NBC's "ER" as Dr. Kerry Weaver") gave an outstanding performance as Pat Melacon, a concerned housewife who tries to stop a chemical plant from being built in a already polluted city. The city is called "Cancer Alley". Laura's character in this true story movie is simlar to other REAL-LIFE HEROS like Martin Luther King and Gandhi. This movie airs on "Lifetime" Network and premieres on December 10, 2001(check your local listings). I hope that this movie gets reconized at the 2002 Primetime Emmy Awards and any other award show. You can catch Laura Innes on NBC's "ER" Thursdays @ 10p/9c
This movie is similar to "Erin Brokavich" starring Julia Roberts. Laura Innes gave an excellent, breakout performance as Pat Melacon. This movie gave a creative storyline, great wrting to the true story of a woman, Pat Melacon. The other cast gave it their best, and hope they'll be noticed at the 2002 emmys. Must see movie.
