A good try, even Roy Dupuis plays in it...

The "Lance et Compte" series by Rejean Tremblay and Fabienne Larouche was successful between 1986 and 1989. To continue its success, the duo wrote several TV movies about the world of these hockey players from the fictional NHL team Quebec National (based on the former Quebec Nordiques).

Sad that such a series spawned a so-so made-for-TV movies. This one is about a former National player, Marc Gagnon (Marc Messier), who became coach a few years back. That year, a losing streak makes the general manager of the team fire Gagnon without justified reasons. He won't stay without a job, since the general manager of another team, the Trois Rivieres Draveurs (Lumberjacks) wants him to coach a team of losers who don't make the effort to play hockey, especially one tough cookie of an ego, played by Roy Dupuis (from "La Femme Nikita" TV series).

He takes the challenge to make the team a winner, waiting to see if the National can call him back to coach. Gagnon has also to cope with his actual girlfriend, Suzie Lambert (Marina Orsini), who is wondering if he really loves her...

Not bad a movie, but not great either. Especially seeing Roy Dupuis in his rebellious looks as a hockey player... The rest: your average TV movie, watchable once, then forgotten...
