This film is strongly recommended and is hugely enjoyable; first rate drama and so what that its somewhat melodramatic.Respectable spinster falls for reformed prisoner,"love", lust, jealousy and revenge done with panache, style and intensity. The production and direction is excellent, the locations beautiful(Nova Scotia)and the supporting cast brilliantly selected. The star of course is the lead female giving such a good charismatic performance that someone somewhere ought to recognize this talent. The transformation from dowdy type professor to sexy lover is wonderful, and the intimate moments in this picture are erotically appropriate. The scene where the 'stud' reveals the full monty for the first time is hilarious. Any movie that makes it clear in the opening credits to say it is basically a work of fiction has my attention....and I have to say that many of the films on cable are barely watchable after the first ten minutes .. so this one is certainly a notable exception. Hopefully we can have a Passion and Prejudice II.....please!!!!
