School's out, exams are over, and it's time for real life to begin. But before 12 friends from the International High School in Prague disappear to the four corners of the earth, they intend to throw the best party of their lives. The idea to stage the party in Prague's biggest swimming pool is illegal but cool. And when Gregor, the laid-back leader of the group thinks an idea is good, then no-one else from the group objects. But what begins as the night of all nights quickly turns into a life and death struggle, as the friends come to realise that death itself is on the guest list... A mysterious masked killer sets a hunt in motion that ranges through the facility's halls and corridors. As the kids panic it begins to dawn on them that the killer must be one of them... This movie was boring. I cannot even imagine it being any good if I were to have watched it with a group of beer swilling buddies and a stack of pizzas.
The Pool was made before Saw replaced Scream on the most ripped off horror movie list and watching it these many years later reminded me why I disliked Scream ripoffs in the first place.
An obnoxious, immature, international cast of pretty-boys (and Girls) slog through a lethally dull script where pretty much nothing happens for the first forty minutes or so except for endless conversation between these unlikable brats and (yawn) a couple of murders.
The killer was pretty silly looking in his black padded nylon shirt, pants, and ski mask with a plastic skull attached. He was pretty lame and his attacks on the brats were unsuspenseful and trite to say the least.
At least one member of the cast, John McAvoy, went on to bigger and better things, co-starring in The Last King Of Scotland and Wanted. Watching him here, it's hard to tell that he has any talent at all. I wonder if he deleted this from his resume when he auditioned for the other movies.
