Practically the definitive underground classic. Shot primarily in a seedy bathroom, it's gross, outrageously blasphemous, trippy, campy and hilarious, esp. if seen very, very high. Sometime Village Fug Tuli Kupferberg plays a vulgar NY Jewish G*d who never gets out of the tub. The story line is the debate in an ecumenical trailer trash Heaven during Abraham's biblical trial of faith over the sacrifice of his son Isaac.
You get obscene, low-life commentary on Kierkegaardian existentialism and stoned critiques of the world's major faiths served up with plenty of Triune trash-talk. But you're more interested in the wide-eyed houris who service the Almighty or the signifying Holy Ghost - a plasticine blackface lackey who regularly pops out of the toilet to dis up the ineffectual ineffable One.
My favorite character is the Buddha, who shows up at precisely the wrong moment to change the course of history.
Don't know where you'll find a screening of this howler. Have heard nothing about it for 25+ years. Rumor had it that Director Michael Hirsch had the only remaining print of it.
