With only the plan of moving in together after high school, two unusually devious friends seek direction in life. As a mere gag, they respond to a man's newspaper ad for a date, only to find it will greatly complicate their lives.
In "Frank McKlusky, C.I." we are treated to a remake of "Ace Venture: Pet Detective" completely loaded with a the guy who probably plays Jim Carrey in those hollywood look-a-like theater shows.
Frank McKlusky is son of a daredevil (Randy Quaid) who has the talent of a mentally challenged rat. Due to a fairly poor choice in a stunt Dad McKlusky is put into a "coma like thing."
So, Mom McKlusky (Dolly Parton) then makes them all ultra protective freaks. We zoom ahead to Frank being 25 and an insurance claims investigator. He wears a helmet and elbow & knee pads at all times.
Anyway, let's move ahead. Some weird stupid crap goes on, he gets a really hot chick as his new partner (Cameron Richardson). He does some stupid things, the end.
The weirdest thing is all the cameos. You have Kevin Pollak, Andy Richter, Scott Baio, Adam Carolla, Lou Ferrigno, Hanson, Emmanuel Lewis (Webster), Dominique Moceanu, Pat O'Brien, Molly Sims, George Lopez, R. Lee Ermey, and Chyna.
As you can see 80's icons play a part in this movie also. 99% of those jokes fall flat on their face. Most of the time Sheridan tries to hard to be like Jim Carrey, instead of just being himself.
There are some mildly funny moments and the movie wasn't completely horrible. I think they should have left out all the cameos and gotten some money for a better screenwriter. This guy manages to squeeze out every gay and 80's TV based joke in the book. Sadly, he neglected to add any to the book, so if you find yourself watching, thinking "I haven't I heard that somewhere before?" Yes, you have, worry no more.
So, in the end I give this a 3.5 out of 10.
