Tron: Uprising

24 December 2010 4:45 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

The whole world seems to have a outlined, luminescent blue glow to it right now with Tron fever spreading like wildfire. And it’s no shock with Disney’s past mega successes of Pirates Of The Caribbean and National Treasure, Disney are really going all out with their franchises and Tron: Legacy being no exception with toys, games, theme park rides, comics and now the much anticipated cartoon; Tron: Uprising.

The series, to air Summer 2012 on Disney Xd, fits between the first Tron and the new installment, Legacy where Clu (evil Jeff Bridges program) takes over the Grid. Below is an outline from Adam Horowitz, the Tron: Legacy co-screenwriter in an interview on Box Office Magazine;

This animated show will take place from when Flynn is in a safe house. It’s from when Clu takes over the grid to before when Sam comes in. So if you were »

Love And Other Drugs Review

8 December 2010 6:08 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

The theatres, in my area at least, are in a very sad state. It goes without saying, that this is highly unusual for this time of the year, and I have to wonder where did all the good films go? As a result, I was driven to watch Love and Other Drugs out of desperation, which ended up being a mix between A Walk To Remember and The Notebook. With better actors that got naked a lot. I did feel slightly duped by the film I saw. I felt it was marketed as this year's Up In The Air, and while I tsk-tsk myself for basing my expectations around the movie's marketing strategy, I still felt let down since the movie was mediocre at best. The story has been seen before. Jake Gyllenhaal plays Jamie Randall, slacker son in a family of a financially and academically successfully people. He find »

'Tangled' Challenging 'Harry Potter' for Three-Day Weekend Box-Office

27 November 2010 7:39 AM, PST | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

Well box-office fans, the war has been declared as Harry Potter and his wizarding folk are taking on Disney's latest princess. While it may seem unfair, the princess is holding her ground as the two head into the Friday after Thanksgiving in a close race for the three-day box-office weekend.

Disney Animation's Tangled was released on Wednesday and opened to the tune of $11.8 million compared to $14.4 million earned by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. Potter maintained its lead on Thursday with another $11.5m compared to $8.1m for Tangled. Things were looking up for Potter with a $6 million lead going into Friday, but Tangled stands a chance for the three-day victory.

On Friday, Harry Potter's daily lead was snipped to $1.1 million with the seventh film in the franchise earning an estimated $20.8 million compared to Tangled's never-say-die $19.7 million. After three days Tangled has now earned $39.6 million and with »

Grey's Anatomy Round Table: "These Arms of Mine"

29 October 2010 11:53 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Welcome to TV Fanatic's Grey's Anatomy Round Table, in which our panelists discuss the burning questions from the most recent episode of the medical drama.

The topics for our "These Arms of Mine" Round Table Q&A and Tvf's take ...

1. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote from the episode?

L.J. Gibbs: "Being a hero has it's price." - Yang

M.L. House: I'll go with Sloan's take on the installment: "You picked a good night to start filming. This is gonna be fun." As you'll be able to tell in my following answer, I couldn't disagree more.

Mrs. Northman: Derek: "He

2. The documentary-style filming: Cool change of pace or lame gimmick?

L.J. Gibbs: It was sort of cool, and didn't take away from the episode. Still, it didn't add much, there was no reason to do it, and it felt like a gimmick done just for the sake of it. »

Kirstin Says: Don’t Take Away My Favorite Lesbians From ‘Grey’s Anatomy!’

29 October 2010 12:24 AM, PDT | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

Courtesy of ABC

At first, the most upsetting part about Grey’s Anatomy Oct. 28 was the documentary-style shooting — then they tried to write out Arizona and Callie and I’m officially distraught!

Grey’s Anatomy took a very random turn Oct. 28 — for some strange reason, the writers thought we’d enjoy watching The Office meets Law and Order in a hospital. However, contrary to their beliefs, I didn’t enjoy the whole documentary feel. The so-called “documentary creators” focused on the shooting incident from last season’s finale, while tying it into this season’s surgeries. Ultimately, I missed the fancy edits and alternative music from the usual episodes…but mostly, I was upset by the new storyline at the end of the episode: Where Are They Taking Arizona And Callie?

Here are my six gut reactions to tonight’s episode:

Review – What We Do Is Secret

3 October 2010 2:23 PM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

On paper, What We Do Is Secret (2007) is like my own special version of hell: a biopic about a genre of music I can’t stand fronted by an actor whose work I hardly know. In reality, however, it’s one of the best obscure films I’ve seen in a long while, centered around one of the best individual performances I’ve ever seen.

I love TV on DVD, but my secret passion is for the obscure films that my love of TV inevitably leads me to watching. The ones no one’s ever heard of that went direct to video or got lost in the shuffle. Given anyone that I’ve taken an interest in on the small screen, I’m more interested in the small movie they did years ago than the big blockbuster. This time, it’s Shane West’s fault. I’ve spent a month now watching him in Nikita, »

[DVD Review] The Last Song

26 August 2010 8:30 PM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

Stories like the one featured in The Last Song are so stale that they beckon to be tossed in the garbage and set on fire; instead, teenage audiences continue ingesting them. What is worse is that it's based off a novel written by Nicholas Sparks, whose novels are so disgustingly predictable and contrived that I almost shudder to recall the time I actually sat down and watched A Walk to Remember.

Here's how it goes almost every time: some girl who dresses in mostly black and has a sordid past (even at 17, which means she doesn't really have that sordid of a past) relocates to a place where she does not fit in. She hates her loving parents, but will get distracted from that when she meets a boy who is total dreamboat, but is from the opposite side of the tracks. Love has no bounds though, and so she »

Blu-Ray Review: ‘The Last Song’ Fails to Hit Emotional Notes

25 August 2010 5:18 AM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – Nicholas Sparks is the Michael Bay of touchy-feely weepies. No matter how derivative or cynically calculating his stories prove to be, they never fail to rake in the dough. Several of his books have been turned into blockbusters, the best of which benefit greatly from the strength of their cast, as in “A Walk to Remember” and “The Notebook.”

Unfortunately, “The Last Song,” stars The Artist Currently Known as Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus, who seems uncomfortable acting without a laugh track. Her initial attempt at graduating from the Mickey Mouse Club into big girl roles was admittedly doomed from the start, since this Sparks adaptation is the first co-written by the author himself, who succeeds in making his work appear even more cloying onscreen. This is the cuddliest cancer drama since “My Sister’s Keeper.”

Blu-Ray Rating: 1.5/5.0

Zac Efron Is 'The Lucky One'. The Audience? Not So Lucky.

24 August 2010 2:37 PM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Nicolas Sparks sappy crappy movies:1. Message in a Bottle - Tagline:  A story of love lost and found. I wish I had never found this damn movie. Only redeemable because Kevin Costner is in it. Kevin probably had no idea how cheesy the film would be but since he's the consummate professional, knocked another home run acting job out of the park.2. A Walk To Remember - Tagline:  Love is like the wind. You cannot see it but you can always feel it. My farts are like the wind too. You cannot see them, but you sure as hell can smell them.3. The Notebook - Tagline:  Behind every great love is a great story. Too bad there's no great story here. The Notebook is perhaps the best known Nicolas Sparks crybaby roller coaster movie. Taylor Schilling Joins Zac Efron in The Lucky One

23 August 2010 11:00 PM, PDT | movies.about.com | See recent About.com Hollywood Movies news »

I guess I'm one of a small group of people who will actually miss Mercy (canceled after just one season), but fortunately for the TV show's star Taylor Schilling, she's just picked up a new gig to fill in some of her downtime. Schilling will be co-starring with Zac Efron in the big screen adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' The Lucky One set up at Warner Bros Pictures.

Sparks' official site has this description of the 2008 novel: "When U.S. Marine Logan Thibault finds a photograph of a smiling young woman half-buried in the dirt during his third tour of duty in Iraq, his first instinct is to toss it aside. Instead, he brings it back to the base for someone to claim, but when no one does, he finds himself always carrying the photo in his pocket. Kirstin Says: I Love To See Strong Girls Kick Butt, Which Makes ‘Nikita’ A Must Watch!

23 August 2010 3:11 PM, PDT | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

Long story short: The CW’s Nikita reminds me of a teen version of Alias! You can’t go wrong with a hot cast, top secret government organizations and tons of action!

Who’s in it: The gorgeous Maggie Q (Mission Impossible III), Shane West from A Walk To Remember fame, and Lyndsy Fonseca (Desperate Housewives, How I Met Your Mother)

What goes down in the first episode: Nikita (Maggie Q) is a trained assassin, thanks to a top secret government organization called Division, which trains social misfits to kill. Miserable as a killer, Nikita escaped from Division and is now the agency’s top priority target. Little does the agency know, their #1 guy happens to be Nikita’s former love (Shane West), and he can’t seem to let his top student go. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that Nikita has implanted a spy in the form of a new Division assassin. »
