Peacock booking trip to 'Rodanthe'

Scribe Ann Peacock has signed on to adapt Nicholas Sparks' Nights in Rodanthe for Warner Bros. Pictures and studio-based Di Novi Pictures. Rodanthe tells of a doctor's life-altering romance that begins when he stops at an inn on his way to see his estranged son. Sparks also is the author of such romance novels as Message in a Bottle, A Walk to Remember and The Notebook, all of which have served as the basis for screen adaptations. Denise Di Novi is producing with Alison Greenspan at Di Novi Pictures. Courtenay Valenti is overseeing for the studio. Peacock is working on Enlisted for DreamWorks and Team Todd. She has penned The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe, starring Tilda Swinton, for Walden Media and the Walt Disney Co. and In My Country, starring Samuel L. Jackson, Juliette Binoche and Brendan Gleeson. Di Novi and Peacock are repped by CAA. Peacock also is repped by Principato-Young Entertainment and attorney Don Steele at Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren & Sloan. »

Mandy Moore Fumes at Being Declared Republican

Singer and actress Mandy Moore is furious at being "outed" as a secret Republican in the new issue of America's Details magazine. The publication's upcoming September edition lists Adam Sandler, Freddie Prinze Jr., Jessica Simpson, Shannen Doherty and Moore as silent supporters of current US President George W. Bush who don't join the campaign trail and make their political views known, unlike loud and proud Democrats Ben Affleck and Barbra Streisand. However, the A Walk To Remember beauty has angrily denied she supports Bush and his party. Her publicist tells American website Pagesix.Com, "Mandy is not, nor has she ever been, a Republican." »

Bondesen exits partnership to ignite Fuse Ent.

Joining him at the new West Hollywood-based company is former Bondesen Graup manager Alex Goldstone and clients including The O.C creator Josh Schwartz, Matt Nix (Being Alexander), Jamie Vanderbilt (Basic), Ron Anderson (Wheels of Fury), Karen Janszen (A Walk to Remember), Christian Forte (Albino Alligator), Rich D'Ovidio (Exit Wounds), Rob Lieber (Slay the Bully), Ian Deitchman and Kristin Rusk-Robinson (Life as We Know It) and writer Heather Hach (Freaky Friday). »

Valenti upped to Warners exec vp

Courtenay Valenti has been promoted to executive vp production at Warner Bros. Pictures. She will continue to report to president of production Jeff Robinov as she acquires, develops and supervises the production of movies for the studio. Valenti joined Warners in 1989 as a creative executive and became vp production in 1991, eventually moving up to senior vp production in 1996. She has overseen the development and production of such Warners releases as You've Got Mail, A Walk to Remember, The Iron Giant and Queen of the Damned. Upcoming films in which she is involved include A Very Long Engagement, The Phantom of the Opera, Duma, Class Action, Happy Feet and The Ant Bully. "Courtenay is a tremendous executive and a great asset to our company," Robinov said. "She's got great taste in material and a gift for bringing out the best in filmmakers throughout the creative process. Her relationships and judgment have been invaluable to us, and I'm happy to congratulate her on this well-earned new title." Valenti began her career at Lehman Bros. in New York and segued into entertainment as an assistant to filmmaker Tony Bill. »
