The Dominion War is over and the galaxy is at peace again for the most part. USS Dauntless, a Federation Galaxy-class starship, is helping a colony of settlers, when the planet's sun suddenly destabilizes and goes supernova. Dauntless' captain, Robert Wright, is killed, but the ship manages to escape the massive explosion. The player is the ship's First Officer, who now becomes the new captain and must investigate what exactly caused the sun to explode. It soon becomes clear that this was no natural occurrence and that an alien device had something to do with it. When a warmongering Cardassian faction attacks the Federation ships, the player must help stop them. Are they behind your captain's death? Or are the mysterious Cardassian allies, known as the Kessok, behind everything? The player eventually gets to command the USS Sovereign as well, one of the few massive warships created to fight the Borg, although the Borg do not appear in this game. The game is a first person bridge ...

In the Star Trek universe, a Galaxy-class starship weights 4.6 million metric tons, which would require, even with engines at full power, quite a long time to reach full impulse or full stop, yet the USS Dauntless (a Galaxy-class) departs in 3 seconds with just 1/4 of engine power. Manouvering and orbiting is faster than expected as well. See more
