atmosphere, a decent story line, good graphics, and atmosphere.
13 December 2003 | by (Scotland) – See all my reviews

this game is better than the first 3 AITD games = alone in the dark games, that wouldn't be hard they were sh*t but this one is great the atmosphere is amazing it gives resident evil a swift kick to the goolies.

the story line is OK typical horror one so it is, i will not say anything about it so as not to spoil it for those yet to play it. but what i will say is that it keeps you going until the end you want to play it to see what happens even though you feel as if you've seen parts of it before - be it in a movie or another game.

the controls are my only complaint about the game, for a game like this the character need's to be light on his or her feet, but not so in this game after a while you feel your left thumb getting sore because your holding the pad to tight (all because of the characters movement, they are slow and don't feel as quick or responsive as the resident evil characters do this is one reason the res evil games are a joy to play).

this is the only flaw in the game everything else is well done, the pre-rendered backgrounds WHICH ARE THE BEST GRAPHICS TO HAVE IN A SURVIVAL HORROR GAME, forget the horrible 3D levels pre-rendered looks better and draws you in to the game better than 3D graphics. they make the settings/places where they may be look more realistic than any other type of graphic does.

in the game you get a triple barrelled shotgun (trying not to be a complete ripoff of Phantasm 2, 3, 4, 5. were there's a quad barrelled shotgun. you also get guns that wouldn't go a miss in Rambo 4 - hand guns, shotguns, plasma gun, grenade launcher, rocket launcher, electrical zapper thingy that you can charge up with Chrystel's that lie around caves.

when you play the game it makes you feel as if YOUR in a horror movie, right there with the character your controlling which is really good unlike games like: overblood (why make this kind of cr*p), dino crisis (sequel is superiour).

this is a game that any fan of survival horror should play well fans of Resident Evil & Silent Hill anyway.

rating for atmosphere = 12/10. rating for graphics = 10/10. rating for story line = 9/10, rating for controls = 6 and a half/10,

rating for the game as a whole = 10/10.
