Where's Pete?

Most likely in Wichita. Definitely not in Smallville.

On a more serious note, Sam Jones III didn't like how the character of Pete was being used when he became a background character. That's why he left. In September 2005, Al Gough stated that Pete Ross will not be appearing again, as he is still difficult to place in the storyline and was more about Clark's past, thus making it pointless to put him in the story

On an interesting note, it's hinted that Pete may become Vice President in "Forsaken" where he tells Lex that he owes him and Lex answers that he's sure Pete will return the favor.

Pete returned in 7x13 "Hero" with powers similar to Elastic Lad due to Green K and chewing gum.

An additional interesting note, in the comics, Pete Ross marries Lana Lang.

Who knows Clarks secret?

http://www.supermanhomepage.com/tv/tv.php?topic=reviews/smallville-knockout

There are people who certainly know Clark's secret. There are:

55 living and/or in a jail or asylum:

* Martha * *Invisible Jeff (110) * Kyle Tippet (112) * *Scott Bowman and Derek (113) * *Justin Gaines (119) * *Desiree Atkins (he uses his heat vision in front of her)(202) * Pete (203) * Jessica (204) * Jessica's Father (204) * Byron Moore (205) * *Rachel Dunleavy (207) * *Dr. Bryce (216) * *Three Asthma Krypto-inhaler types (220) * *Morgan Edge (302) * Sara Conroy (Dreamer who is saved by Clark) (304) * The Doctor at the hospital (315) * The Sniper at the hospital (315) * Joseph Willowbrook (210, 320) * *Emily Dinsmore (221, 321) * *Abby's Mom (403) * Bart Allen (405) * *Tim Waltcott (412) * Chloe (412) * *Geoff Johns (413) * *Josh (414) * *Zack (414) * *Marcus Becker (416) (punched through a car window, he knows SOMETHING) * Kevin (419) * Arthur Curry (504) * Milton Fine (507) * Santa Claus! * These are people who would have told others about Clark's secret, more than likely, if they could have.

Lionel Luther actually found out in episode 406 Transference when they switched bodies and Lionel was able to actually use Clark's powers.

In the episode "Tempest" Clark's spaceship was hit by the power of a tornado and flew into a cornfield. In the episode "Duplicity" Dr. Steven Hamilton is physically sick from repeated exposure to meteor rock radiation, causing constant Parkinson-like twitches and thus becomes a liability to Lex Luthor, so he terminates their contract. Dr. Hamilton leaves the mansion and drives down the road like a lunatic and causes a serious accident with a truck driven by Ray Wallace.

The truck overturns in a cornfield near Clark Kent's spacecraft and, while trying to rescue Ray, Pete Ross sees the UFO. The next morning, Pete asks Clark to help him to bring the object to his workshop. When Dr. Hamilton steals the spacecraft, Pete believes Clark has taken it, so Clark discloses his secret to his friend.

Pete freaks out over this new revolation about his best friend and is angry that Clark didn't trust him to tell him sooner. Clark tells Pete that he didn't steal the spcaeship back and that he is still the same person before Pete knew the truth. Clark also explaines that he only kept it a secret so he wouldn't endanger Pete, which soon happpens when it is revealed that Dr. Hamilton stole the ship and kidnaps Pete as he suspects Pete knows who the Spacecraft belongs too. Clark shows up just in time to save Pete but Hamilton dies from his shakes.

Chloe begins researching Clark's background in the first season episode "Zero" as part of a school assignment. She becomes increasingly curious and soon begins digging into Clark's adoption files. Though she promised to drop her investigation after a falling-out with Clark, Chloe saves the files she retrieves, which she later passes to Lionel. In the second season episode "Lineage", Chloe reveals that she had covertly researched Clark's biological lineage, which shocks Clark and nearly ends their friendship. Clark asks Chloe to stop digging, and rather than risk further damage to their friendship, she complies.

A few months after Lionel's conviction, Chloe learns of Clark's powers from a "demonstration" staged by Alicia Baker in Season 4's "Pariah." Alicia forces Chloe into her car by teleporting both of them into it and, while driving at a reckless speed, calls Clark on her cell phone and claims that her car is out of control. Alicia then uses her power to teleport her and Chloe to a safe distance. As Alicia had planned, a shocked Chloe witnesses Clark arrive at super-speed and catch the speeding car. Clark then leaves, unaware that he has been observed.

Though unsettled, Chloe decides not to reveal Clark's secret to anyone. Instead, throughout the fourth season, she drops hints to Clark that she knows of his powers, initially believing Clark to be a meteor freak, rather than an alien. In "Spirit," Chloe witnesses the effect of Kryptonite on Clark when Jonathan Kent uses it to subdue Clark after he is possessed by the spirit of a vengeful student. Chloe pretends to be knocked out and acts as if she knew nothing at all.

When Clark is struck with amnesia in "Blank", Chloe re-mentors him on his powers and walks him through a tenuous exchange with Lex. After Clark regains his memories, he can no longer remember that Chloe knows his secret. When pressed, Chloe simply remarks that Clark had "trusted" her and seems satisfied that she was there when he finally needed her support.

In the season four finale "Commencement", Chloe graduates from high school (although her name is not called due to a military interruption announcing an impending meteor shower). She later discovers a Kryptonite-weakened Clark in Lex Luthor's walk-in safe and pulls him to safety. When Lex finds her in his office, he begins acting neurotic and forcibly drags Chloe to the Kawatche Caves. There, Chloe knocks Lex down to prevent him from seeing Clark enter a hidden chamber in the caves.

Chloe follows Clark to the Fortress of Solitude.Chloe is transported with Clark to the Arctic in the season five premiere "Arrival". She wakes up in front of the Fortress of Solitude, and is nearly killed from the extreme cold until Clark begs Jor-El to let him leave so he can save Chloe's life, and Jor-El reluctantly agrees. Clark takes her to a hospital in the Yukon, where Chloe tells Clark that she knows his secret and promises to never be the "iceberg to [his] Titanic." With no reason to hide anymore, Clark confides that he is an alien, not a meteor freak.

Since then, the pair has worked as partners to help conceal Clark's powers and face his most lethal enemies yet, namely Brainiac. At the end of Season Five, the entire Daily Planet building goes haywire when Brainiac unleashes a computer virus that infects every computer system on Earth. Chloe, afraid she will never see Clark again, kisses Clark passionately, who kisses her back. She promises to leave Metropolis, but the city erupts into mass riots. Chloe frantically bangs on the window of a passing limousine belonging to Lionel Luthor outside the Daily Planet. He lets her inside, but the rioters overrun the car. Chloe is pulled out through a smashed window by the mob while Lionel is attacked on the opposite side. Fortunately, Lionel is able to fend off the rioters with the help of his bodyguard, and they escape into LuthorCorp Plaza. The two regroup in Lionel's office, and after agreeing that something has to be done about General Zod, who has possessed Lex's body, Lionel elects to return to the Kent Farm and find the dagger Clark received from Jor-El to stop Zod. With her leg injured in the riots, Chloe returns to the Daily Planet to try and decipher the Kryptonian symbols they believe will give them clues to defeat Zod. Before wishing her good luck, Lionel gives Chloe a handgun, just in case.

While working in the Daily Planet basement, Chloe runs into an old friend: Jimmy Olsen, who was working his first day at the Daily Planet as a photographer when all hell broke loose. Chloe and Jimmy rekindle a whirlwind relationship they started when she was an intern in high school. However, Clark's reaction to the kiss they shared is unclear. Continuing to be Clark's sidekick, Chloe helps a fledgling version of the Justice League on their first mission, but she stays in Smallville with Clark when they leave.

The first time we can tell he knows part of Clark's secret is when he is on red kryptonite and he shoots himself in the hand. Lionel later [in his blind state] finds them on the ground and feels them. When Martha and Lionel are held hostage, Lionel can see, but he has been pretending blindness from this point, perhaps before, until Lucas uncovers his secret. So when Clark uses his powers to save his mom and Lionel, Lionel sees Clark using his powers, either in full or part way because his vision is returning.

However, in Season 8, it is revealed that Lionel was part of a group called Veritas which dedicated its time to protecting "the traveler".. Clark.. and therefore it is suggested he always knew about Clark.

Lana has always suspected something was different about Clark. During the 6th season, she learns the truth about him.

In, "Crimson", she sees that Clark is stabbed with a chisel without getting hurt and the chisel being bent. She finds it later and keeps it.

In "Trespass", Clark catches her from falling to her possible death.

In "Freak", she finds out that an old student from high school was blinded by the second meteor shower and can now "see" meteor infected people. He is being exploited by Dr. Robert Bethany, a man working for Lex to find meteor infected people for 33.1. Lana assumes that he was talking about Clark when in actuality, it's Chloe. At the end of the episode, Clark stops Lana from shooting Dr. Bethany and blocks Tobias from being stunned by the doctor. Lana finds the ricocheted bullet. After the incident Lana asks Tobias if Clark is meteor infected. He says, "You must be talking about a different Clark Kent, because the Clark I know is the most normal guy I've ever met. " She then confronts Clark and he denies it. She says, "You know, even if it was true, even if you were meteor-infected, it wouldn't matter. You'd still be the same Clark Kent."

In "Promise", we see the episode from different perspectives. From Lana's perspective, it turns out that she locks Chloe in a wine cellar and hides to see what happens. It is revealed that Lana hears Chloe and Clark's entire conversation; she witnesses his super strength, speed, and heat vision and also hears them talk about Clark's invulnerability as he rescues Chloe from the wine cellar. Two hours later, Lana is writing Lex a letter when Clark arrives at the mansion. She tells him she will meet him at 5, but when he leaves, she is approached by Lionel. Lionel reads her letter and realizes that she doesn't intend to marry Lex. He correctly guesses that she knows Clark's secret. He reveals that he knows it too, but he also knows Clark's weakness. He tells her that if she doesn't marry Lex, he will kill Clark.

In "Phantom", Clark finds Lana waiting in the loft for him. She tells him she's leaving Lex. Clark is shocked and says he's not sorry. Lana tells him that she is leaving Smallville and wanted to say goodbye and tell Clark that she will always love him. Clark says that he can protect her from anything and Lana simply says that he can't protect her this time. She begins to leave but is stopped when Clark super speeds in front of her. He says she can't leave unless she knows the truth. Lana tells that she already knows about his powers. He still tells her that he isn't from this planet. After a few moments of silence, he begs her to say something. Still silent, Lana walks up to him and kisses him. She whispers that, to her, he's still the same Clark Kent. Clark is happy, stating that since she knows the truth about him, Lana has no more reason to leave but Lana is still insistent on going. She says she knows he has a weakness and when Clark asks how she knows, she doesn't answer. Clark asks if Lionel told her and she admits that Lionel threatened to kill Clark if she didn't marry Lex. Clark hugs her.

At the end of the 6th season, Martha left Smallville and went to Washington to become a US Senator after a senator was killed in the episode "Prototype".

Unknown at this point. The producers have contradicted themselves in quotes as to whether this will be answered or not. Just assume that the characters don't put two and two together...its the disbelief that Clark could ever assume such power to be Superman. He wears glasses, slouches a bit, remains low key, etc. For more info on what Al Gough had to say about this...

Eventually Clark will become Superman. But given how things have transpired in Smallville, how will Clark avoid recognition by people who know him so well -- in particular, his former best friend, Lex Luthor?

That will be the challenge when we wrap up the series -- although, we know how we want to do it. It'll feed into the Superman legend. Whether it will be a version people respond to remains to be seen. But we do have ideas as to how to wrap our version of Clark and Smallville into the Superman lore.

Though are meant to be in separate universes (as they are two different takes on the same character) they do share some continuity due to efforts by both the shows producers and the movie's director Bryan Singer.

Here's and interview with Al and Miles discussing what Singer wanted them to do:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRunC-cTB7Q

Smallville and Superman Returns also share the connection of the name for the Kent family dog. They are the only 2 media adaptations of Superman to have used the name Shelby for the family dog.

The actual Superman suit could be featured in the final moment of the show. Due to Comic Con 09's revelation, a prototype black version of the suit will be worn by Clark in Season 9 which includes a blue 'S' symbol. Interestingly, this version lacks a cape, instead preferring the use of a coat, similar to Neo from The Matrix. This departure makes it even more likely that he will eventually wear the famous suit by the end of the show.

It should be noted in a recent Episode "Identity" that Oliver Queen AKA The Green Arrow wore a costume very similar to the Super-Man Costume to fool Jimmy Olsen.

Not really, no. The writers are taking most of their cues from classic Silver Age stories where Clark as Superboy was friends with Lex Luthor(a concept that has made its way back into comics), he did meet younger versions of Lois Lane(even in the expanded Donner movie Clark briefly waved at a young Lois on a passing train)and Jimmy Olsen, and he did face Bizarro and numerous Phantom Zone villains. It's just a matter of what line of Superman comics they are adhering to too that allows Smallville to take its liberties.

Yes, Brainiac (James Marsters) is signed to be in four episodes airing around January of 2008.

Alfred Gough as also stated that Bizarro will make another appearance.

Never. The writers have tried to bring them on but DC Comics placed an embargo on the limited usage of both characters after their respective movie franchises started to develop in recent years. It is a known fact that films put more restrictions on TV shows that want to use the same characters. This is what Al Gough had to say about the possibility of these characters on the show...

Before every new season of Smallville kicks off, there is always the raised hope of seeing the other two big guns from DC make some sort of appearance, whether it's a "Young Bruce Wayne" passing through town, or a teenaged Amazon princess assisting against a threat. Is there a hope at all of this ever happening?

Bruce Wayne: No. Wonder Woman: Probably not, but we always ask. It's the movie franchises that prohibit us from doing that.

Can you explain in simple terms how the movie projects tie up the television series, when the properties and medium are both owned by the same corporation?

They just do. We're just told that we can't use that character. It's a corporate decision. Again, Greg Novack at DC is our biggest advocate, and we've certainly run up the hill on both Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince, but haven't had any success so far. With Bruce Wayne, we won't because of the movie franchise, and that's sort of an arbitrary corporate decision that we have no control over.

One of the producers, Brian Peterson, answered the question again...

http://www.cwtv.com/cw-video/smallville/short/?play=416-4307

Question: At any time and point will try to introduce Bruce Wayne to Smallville?

BP: We will not be introducing Bruce Wayne to Smallville but we have a lot of other great DC characters we will be introducing.

Alfred Gough talked more about it with Smallville Magazine...

http://blogs.coventrytelegraph.net/thegeekfiles/2008/10/smallville-producers-blocked-f.html

Asked which characters had been ruled off-limits, Gough said: "Just Batman and Wonder Woman. Those were really it. We used every character from a former Superman series or movie we wanted to."

He told the magazine: "We earned the right to incorporate a lot more of the DC mythology, which really lit a fire under the show. We introduced the future Justice League, Brainiac, Bizarro, the Fortress and Lois Lane. Suddenly we earned the right to use these toys from the DC toy box to great effect."

Brian Peterson talked about the use of Batman, Wonder Woman, and Flash...

http://www.collider.com/2009/10/26/exclusive-interview-with-smallville-executive-producer-brian-peterson/

I opened up some questions to people who follow me on Twitter. One of them was we all know you cant use Batman or Wonder Woman on the show. Are there other characters in the DC universe that you also cant use?

Peterson: There have been a couple people that we have.very few I will say first of all. Very few. The only restrictions come when those characters are actively being written into scripts for feature films. That is when we have issues. And in all honesty I can not remember. I know there were a couple we floated for this year that were somewhat off limits for us. But for the most part, you know, unless there are rights issues or feature issues we have been working in tandem with DC and this year is an example of that. I mean, weve had Roulette. Weve had the Wonder Twins. Weve had Toy Man come back, you know? We were able to have all these JFA characters, so its been great.

http://tv.ign.com/articles/104/1040030p2.html

IGN: I'll avoid the Batman question, because you've had to answer it a million times

Peterson: I wish I had another answer, but it's always the same!

IGN: I'll just move on to characters you've only had to answer half a million times.

Peterson: Wonder Woman

IGN: Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash What's the status with a few of those bigger players from DC and the possibility of seeing them on Smallville?

Peterson: Yeah, I will just say that as of right now and I'm not saying things won't change but as of right now, unfortunately Wonder Woman and Batman are just off limits, as are certain characters that are being used in movies that are in the pipeline. We try to be respectful of that and we are trying to be understanding, though of course everyone would love to have Wonder Woman and Batman on the show, but it just is not something that's within our realm of possibility right now.

It is also known that before Smallville there was actually going to be a show about a 17 year old Bruce Wayne and his journey to finally becoming Batman. But, plans for the show ended when plans for a reboot of the film franchise were made.

More info on this show can be found here...

http://www.batmanytb.com/tv/brucewayne/index.php or http://www.kryptonsite.com/brucewayne/outline.htm

The pilot script can be read here...

http://leethomson.myzen.co.uk/Pilot_Hell/Bruce_Wayne_1x01_-_Pilot.pdf

Also, please take notice that Oliver Queen/Green Arrow is as close to Batman as we'll probably ever see: rich guy who's a vigilante at night. Also Adam Knight was a reference to Batman. It was speculated that he was Bruce Wayne because of name. His first name Adam is the same as the actor Adam West, who portrayed Batman in the 1960s television show, and his last name Knight could have been a nod to Batman's nickname: The Dark Knight.

Mostly because of a note from DC Comics demanding the name Impulse be used instead of the Flash. Also because this version of Bart Allen is based on the fourth Flash who only until recently(2006)received the title after spending many of his teen years as Impulse and then Kid Flash. The first three Flashes were Jay Garrick, Barry Allen(the one used on the Flash tv show)and Wally West(the version on Justice League Unlimited).

Clark will fly in the final moments (confirmed). However, the producers are keeping mum on whether we will see the suit for THE FINAL SHOT. It will most likely only be in one shot, and that is fine. The no tights rule does not apply to this final moment.

Smallville is the fictional U.S. town where the baby Kal-El was found and raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent. The movie Superman (1978) located Smallville in the state of Kansas. This tradition has carried through into subsequent Superman comic-book stories, animation and television series. Earlier comics stories placed Smallville in the north-eastern United States, somewhere near the eastern seaboard. Some comics-related sources in the 1970s and '80s placed Smallville in the state of Maryland. In the series "Smallville" (2001), the city of Metropolis can be seen from Smallville on clear days.

In "Smallville," Metropolis is a large U.S. city in (or bordering) the state of Kansas. Metropolis can be seen from the Kent farm in Smallville, Kansas on a clear day.

For more info on Metropolis in "Smallville":

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolis_(comics)#In_relation_to_Smallville

http://smallville.wikia.com/wiki/Metropolis

The comic-book Metropolis is a fictional U.S. port city located on the north-eastern Atlantic coast. Metropolis is considered to be located in New York State (which is said to be geographically larger in the DC Comics universe than it is in our own). It was originally a stand-in for New York City, but has since acquired a character all its own. Some sources had previously placed Metropolis in the state of Delaware across from Gotham City on the shore of Delaware Bay; however, this has been superceded by more recent continuity.

There is a real city of Metropolis in the state of Illinois.

Yes.

We use the help of a man called "Ezra", who's named after Ezra Small. Ezra Small is the founder of Smallville. He is also Lana's biological ancestor. I believe this person going by name of Ezra is actually J'onn.

***Week #1***

We find out the founding members of the Justice League are Genevieve Teague, Lionel Luthor, Virgil Swann, and Robert Queen

***Week #2***

We search a Yaris to find letters that form a sentence that tells us this:

TO STOP LEX'S ARMY GET THE VIAL OF SOLDIER INGREDIENTS

***Week #3***

After AC finds the vial and gives it to Ollie's scientists we find out that the super-soldier serum is made from the peptides of the Twins, Bart, and Titan. With this, Wes Keenan had the Twins' force field power, Bart's super speed, and Titan's super strength.

After the scientist studied the serum, they figure out that each power can be stopped with a laser gun if you put in different codes. The each code puts the lasers strength on a different level.

***Week #4***

We use Ollie's satellite to search certain "hotspots" around the world:

Extraterrstrial Touchpoint #2: A massive crystalline structure in the most remote region of this landmass. Hopefully, Lex will never find this place.

Huangpa River: Several ancient shrines visited by people with both benevolent and malevolent intentions. An artifact was left there in ancient times encapsulated in the statue of a horse. Eventually formed the basis of the structure in Extraterrstrial Touchpoint #2.

Corto Maltese: An abandoned lab full of fried circuitry. Nothing has been rebuilt since your team's visit. We learned one week ago Lionel thought his Level 3 experiment would be used to save the human race from alien invasion. But, this wisdom was subverted by his son

Southern Pyramid Range: Lex found a relic that brought him dangerously close to acquiring knowledge never intended for him. Within hours, it was taken form him by the one for whom it was intended. Destiny cannot be diverted.

Waters of Krata: For a time Lionel possessed an artifact that had been hidden at this location. But even that piece eventually returned to the one who was meant to own it.

Castenau-De-Montmiral: Centuries ago, an alien general made his first communication to this location. The recipients of this message were seduced by empty promises and by their thirst for knowledge, which too often has its roots in great greed. This is what caused the eventual split of the founding members of your team. As hard as it may be to believe, this unholy army we are facing is a product of the altruism of Oliver's father and Virgil Swann, corrupted by the greed of Genevieve Teague and Lionel Luthor. Now Doom threatens to overwhelm Justice.

Reeves Dam: THREAT LOCATION DETECTED. Behold the fruits of greed. If Lex Luthor finds additional alien peptides needed to activate these soldiers, our danger will increase by magnitudes and I will call you into further action. Next week, when you return to this interface, our mission's outcome will be known.

"Ezra" then tells us that what happens at the dam can only be taken care of by Clark and the JL will have to sit back and watch. And hopefully, he'll join the team someday. Also, "Ezra" has his own mission that he needs to take care of.

***Week #5---THE FINAL MISSION***

"Ezra" wants you to do a puzzle he used to do as a child in order to see a video of who he really is. We then see a video of the same silhouette that we've seen in every mission. He says:

Congratulations, it's time you know. Our story began in a faraway place where trying times called for desperate measures. With the signs of doom imminent long before materialized, steps were taken by those with foresight to make sure a legacy lived on. To make sure the Last Son of Krypton found his way. To make sure he had a safe place to grow up.

Some heard of these plans early and interpreted them in their own way. Still, others were mislead. Some chose to write about them, while others' lives were shaped by them. Some sought answers to these riddles. Others found them and did what they could to make sure everything happened as it should. A few did not.

You see, everyone was brought together for a reason. Everyone plays a part, whether it's to point us in the right direction, to fight the fights we can't, or expose the truth. But, this is just the beginning. The training is nearly complete.

We then see that its a CGI version of J'onn. Hes wearing a blue suit with red around his waist and making the X on his torso.

This world has many problems. Each presenting its own set of challenges. All of which need fixing. But, there is still hope. Because where there is Justice, there can be no Doom.

J'onn's eyes glow. His skin begins to change to a greenish gray color around eyes. He growls. His head begins to change shape. He looks at his computer and presses a button. he stands up nd folds his arms. The camera backs away. We see that J'onn is on a satellite, maybe the future Watchtower. Then, we see plaque that says "CONSTRUCTED BY SWANN COMMUNICATIONS". We watch as the satellite orbits earth and makes a beeping sound with a red light flashing.

What is Veritas?

A good explanation of the organization can be read here...

http://www.kryptonsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86166

THE VERITAS SYMBOL

"There's a reason for everything that has happened to me. Don't you see? My miraculous rescue from the river, the spacecrafts, those creatures who landed with the meteors... it's not a coincidence."

Lex Luthor to Lana Lang, "Wrath"

A mysterious symbol has recently been spotted on the show. It features a large 'V' and five stars (all of them differing sizes). I refer to it as The Veritas Symbol. Veritas is the name of the organization led by Virgil Swann, Lionel Luthor, Genevieve Teague, and Robert Queen. The Veritas Symbol first appears in the episode Siren.

The first appearance of The Veritas Symbol (http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/7030/veritas2pl2.jpg). Lana finds an envelope in Lionel's office with a wax seal featuring The Veritas Symbol.

The symbol appears again in Fracture during Clark's journey through Lex's mind. Lillian Luthor questions Lionel about Veritas in the same scene, demanding to know what it is.

The second appearance of The Veritas Symbol (http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/8779/veritas4wh4.jpg). Little Alexander paints the symbol onto a toy Spartan soldier's shield.

A closer view of the symbol's second appearance (http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/4427/veritas5bj5.jpg). This view of the shield appears in a random flash that leads us into the scene.

The symbol appears a third time in the same episode (Fracture) on the stained glass window behind Lex's desk in the Luthor Mansion. It was not there in the previous episode (or any of the episodes prior), Siren.

The stained glass window as it appears in Siren (http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/5931/veritas1to3.jpg). The window appears as it always does, featuring the Luthor 'L'.

The third appearance of The Veritas Symbol (http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/6655/veritas3ao0.jpg). The 'L' suddenly shares it's space with The Veritas Symbol which was absent the week before.

The show may explain the appearance of the symbol in one of three ways; Lex or Lionel had the window changed between Siren and Fracture, retcon the whole thing and say that the window has always looked like that, or fail to explain it at all. The symbol also pops up in the extended version of the joint trailer for Hero, Traveler, and Veritas. It appears to be Lex holding an image of it.

The symbol as it appears in the trailer (http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/6462/veritas6je0.jpg). It's interesting to note that the symbol appears inside of a yellow sun.

At the end of the same trailer, star maps adorn the background of the Smallville logo. A few star names are visible, such as EV Lacerta (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lacerta), Tau Ceti (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tau_Ceti) Van Maanen's Star (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_Maanen's_Star), and EQ Pegasus (http://www.geocities.com/area51/lair/5498/paranoia/index.html).

The star maps from the trailer (http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/7177/stars2qb3.jpg). I've highlighted some of them for you to see.

Thanks to JerseyGrl over at TWoP for pointing this out, and for providing the screencap!

More star names may be visible, but I can't make any of them out. The link provided for EQ Pegasus isn't solely about the star, but this excerpt caught my eye:

"In the last days, the scientific comunity are argueing about the "discovery" of a amator England astronomer: a extraterrestrial signal comming from EQ Pegasus, a two small suns system situated at 27 lightyears from Earth."

The Veritas Organization was originally triggered by "extraterrestrial signals" which led the four leaders to believe that an alien invasion was immanent. These stars may be the stars in the symbol, or those stars could represent Virgil Swann, Lionel Luthor, Genevieve Teague, and Robert Queen (with an additional fifth unknown member?).

Some of you have noticed that my avatar features a very clear image of the symbol, and wondered if it came from something official (such as Justice & Doom). As far as I know, the first ever appearance of the symbol was in Siren. I merely went into Photoshop and made a nice, crisp version.

My Photoshop-drawn version of the symbol (http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/4836/veritassymbolah1.jpg). Feel free to use the symbol for whatever you like.

THE VERITAS ORGANIZATION

"You and I, we're not that different. It was never about you and me. It was about our parents."

Jason Teague to Lex Luthor, "Forever"

The Veritas Organization was formed in 1987 under the leadership of Virgil Swann. Bridgette Crosby, Swann's assistant and one-time lover, also attended their meetings and met with some of them individually. Each member's connection to each other is mysterious. We know that Lionel Luthor met with Virgil Swann in Legacy, but they acted as if they'd never met before. Lionel also appeared to have a past with Genevieve and Edward Teague. In the pilot, Lionel is seen reading The Daily Planet issue reporting on Robert and Moira Queen's deaths. Bridgette Crosby met with Robert Queen the day his plane was sabotaged. They had a brief conversation in The Oliver Queen Chronicles (which is canon):

RQ: I just can't trust him anymore. BC: We were beginning to sense that. RQ: The seeds of fascism were watered by altruism, Bridgette. I fear he's pushing us down a similar path. BC: I'll make sure Virgil knows where you stand. RQ: Swann is lucky to have you. We all are. BC: The feeling is mutual. You are a critical part of this endeavor.

I believe Queen was referring the Lionel, and wanted to make sure that their Leader, Swann, knew about Lionel's ulterior motives. It's possible that Lionel had Robert and Moira killed (by hiring the man that planted the bomb on their plane). The following is a transcript of the second Veritas meeting (I don't remember any other transcripts) taken from the Justice & Doom game last year (which is also canon):

Minutes for Level 3 Meeting #2 As Recorded By: Bridgette Crosby (Encrypted) Location: Virgil Swanns Home Westchester County, New York, 1987 Attendees: Virgil Swann, Lionel Luthor, Genevieve Teague, Robert Queen, Bridgette Crosby

VS: Friends, thank you for coming. I take your attendance to mean you are all convinced, as am I, that an invasion is immanent. I suggest we begin with our individual progress reports

LL: Before we begin anything, Doctor Swann, I want to be clear on what is expected of each of us.

VS: Mr. Luthor, you were invited to join our group because of your companys unique contributions to the field of genetics. But if you dont think your scientists are up to the task

LL: Memorizing the Latin Alphabet is a task, Doctor. Youve asked LuthorCorp to build an army of people enhanced with superhuman abilities.

GT: Since when can Lionel Luthor resist scientific accolades? Your findings in Bioengineering are as radical as they are impressive. Were simply asking you to expand upon your existing work

VS: That you make people evolve to a level that allows them to defend themselves against whomever, or whatever, is coming. After all, your company slogan proclaims We make things grow.

LL: Our slogan refers to wheatgrass and soybean. Youre asking about human testingabout experiments whose results are completely unpredictable. I dont need to remind you that mankind has a drasticaly lower pain tolerance than arugula. Were talking about humanity here.

RQ: Someone call a medicI think Lionels heart just beat twice in one minute!

LL: Im merely being realistic, Robert. Then again, I suppose if Id spent the last twenty years toying with model circuit boards, the level of consequence were dealing with would elude me, as well.

VS: Sheath your daggers, Gentlemen. Theres a much larger battle to prepare for.

GT: Dr. Swann is right. No one is underestimating the magnitude of what were asking, Lionel. Why do you think we chose you for such a challenge?

LL: If your flattery provided answers, I might relish it. Youve all seen the facility Ive dedicated to our endeavor. Were prepared to sink a lot into this. I just want you all aware that no amount of splicing, no catalyst current known to man could yield the desired results. Im curious where you think well discover the essential element that will make possible goals as ambitious as ours.

VS: Sometimes the most elusive answer finds us when we open ourselves to all possibilities. We cant forget there may be those out there who already possess that which is needed.

RQ: Or who can be trained and armed to do what science cannot.

VS: Exactly.

RQ: Regardless, we must work together to protect those who cant protect themselves.

LL: Thats quite altruistic of you, Robert.

RQ: Isnt that the point?

VS: Mr. Queen, perhaps you can fill us in on your progress.

RQ: Queen Industries Level 3 Facility is now fully functional. You will have the first round of designs before our next meeting.

VS: Excellent. As you are all aware, my team is currently refocusing a number of Swann Satellites in order to detect any potential threats. If something is headed our way, well know. What have you found Genevieve?

GT: The symbols I showed you at our first meeting have appeared in several locations around the globe. Whoever is coming has been here before.

LL: Have you been able to discern any meaning from those symbols? Any insight into their purpose?

GT: Not yet, but Edward and I suspect there are more artifacts out there. Well continue to scour the globe in search of anything that might illuminate this groups endeavors.

VS: And Ill also continue my search for those who already possess these special abilities. It seems we all understand what must be done.

GT: I believe we do.

RQ: Yes.

LL: It appears we dont have much choice.

VS: My associate will be contacting you in the usual fashion with information pertaining to the next phase. Before we adjourn, however, I should add that weve begun construction on our proposed safe haven, which will be available should our efforts prove unsuccessful. My friends, let us all hope that we never need it.

You can already see the animosity that Lionel and Robert have towards each other. We know that their children play a role (Lex Luthor, Patricia Swann, Jason Teague, Oliver Queen), as they all appear in a flashback together as young children in the episode Veritas.

The Veritas Four and their children (http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/1061/v4generationme1.jpg). I wonder if Bridgette Crosby is Patricia's mother. It's interesting to note that Lionel is the only surviving member.

We have nothing but questions and everything but answers. Hopefully this all makes sense by season's end. Between everyone's roles in this story, what the symbol means, and how Clark factors into it all, it's a confusing ride with plenty of plot holes that need to be filled.

The use of double "L"s came about originally to as part of Superman's Kryptonian heritage...originally stated in the comics as Kal-L, Jor-L, etc. However, the use of the L was extended to other characters to create familiar and easy to remember names. The same scheme is used with Matt Murdock, Peter Parker, etc. Yes, that is the answer.

The above explanation is incomplete. While writers did use naming schemes as mentioned, the real reason the double L's came about in Superman when Siegel and Shuster created him in the 1930's, has to do with Siegel having been in love with a woman with the initials "LL," and, as a writer, sought to pay homage to her by giving characters he created the same initials.

Smallville is shot in Vancouver. For specific locations...

Story:

A meteor shower bursts from the heavens, raining destruction on the unsuspecting citizens of Smallville. Twelve years later and the healing process has left the town's inhabitants with scars and secrets. From the ashes of tragedy, a popular yet awkward teen attempts to decipher the meaning of his life and his clouded past. As he struggles with the transition from boyhood to adulthood, his strength and strange abilities set him uncomfortably apart from his peers, and his name is Clark Kent.

In an interview with executive producer Darren Swimmer, he said Season 8 may not be the last. At this time, "actor availability" on Tom Welling's part (or more specifically, his willingness to sign on for another season) is the only concern for the show continuing for a 9th season.

*Update* A ninth season has been confirmed, with Tom Welling returning.

What happened to Kara?

Brainiac impersonated her in the seventh season finale, but Clark destroyed him. The real Kara was imprisoned in the Phantom Zone. However, she was later released by Clark and is currently seeking to find the remnants of the Kryptonian city, Kandor.

It is possible because at the final scene of Bride, a video of Doomsday crashing Chloe and Jimmy's wedding is being watched in a darkened room by a bald man hooked up to hospital tubes, but was played by a different actor. It is not officially ruled out though if it were to be that character.

Only time will tell.....well that and spoilers.

There is a lot of speculation that the death of Chloe would push Clark into donning the suit and finally becoming the Man of Steel. This is not too far a stretch as she has been pushing him towards it a little this season as he has become more active in fighting crime as the Red-Blue Blur. And given her recent involvement with Davis Bloome aka Doomsday, it is not out of the question to think she may end up caught in the crossfire between him and Clark. And some spoilers for the season 8 finale have said that two main characters will die.

Eventually we find out that she DOES NOT die...atleast not in season 8.

While it was never said on the show it's assumed that when Brainiac took her over the healing ability got used up fighting off his nanobots for as long as possible.
