Infinity and Beyond...
17 September 2001 | by (Chanhassen, Minnesota) – See all my reviews

Simply put, Stanley Kubrick is the single greatest director in the history of cinema. To view Kubrick's filmography is to watch a master craftsmen totally reinvent the genres he explored. Sci-fi, war, anti-war, black comedy, the period piece, the future dystopia, boxing, the crime caper, the gladiator film -- the scope of each of these genres has been forever enhanced by Kubrick's contribution to film. I dare not think what the optical effects of Star Wars (Episode IV: A New Hope circa 1977) would have looked like without the mammoth leap forward of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Film lovers of the world rejoice, for we have Stanley to celebrate for the rest of our lives.

We love you Mr. Kubrick, wherever you are...
