women representation and job commitment of this film, 20 July 2007
Author: saeideh hajinejd (s.hajinejad@gmail.com) from Islamic Republic of Iran
I want to write some elements of this movie that I think they are so important for this evaluation. In this movie we face with a well women representation, commitment to the job, profession and also a big change in the positions.
I'd prefer to start with the women representation of this film. As you know, from the first part of the movie we see a clever and eager woman to her job and to her social environment; during the film we see lots of important behaviors from her. In this film any body doesn't attention to a detective guilt but this woman follows this way and at last the only one who understands this event is that clever woman; more over, this woman doesn't want to show that evidence to the others. She would prefer to destroy that evidence; however, she have attempted for getting that result. There is no excuse for these attempts and this result except her personality that is a mixture of deep feelings and thoughts and these representations of women in the latest movies is a scarce. Because lately we see some weak, stupid and even cruel women in the movies that they don't have control to their lives and even they are unidirectional and their life doesn't have any similarity to the real women's complex life that we see in our social environment. So fortunately we don't have this problem in this movie.
In fact, we see a responsible detective in this movie too that can not sleep because of his job and the puzzles that exist in his mind. This responsible and famous detective has come from another city for solving a problem but he gets in a deep pit that he had never predicted it.
From the first part of the film the audience realizes that he has a sleep problem because of her tired eyes. This detective tries to solve the problem that he has involved with but as he tries he faces with more problems till the time that he finishes the last matter and he dies; hence, the only time that he succeeded to sleep was his death time that it's not a happy ending for this film. And I think the best ending for this film was his responsibility to his job even in his dead time that he wanted to show the fact; however, it wasn't very pleasant for him.
The latest part of this evaluation belongs to the shifts of the film that we see in the detective life that changed from being a chief (ruler) to a convict; furthermore, he wasn't confused in that position and tried to show the fact.
Base on something that I have written; consequently, I evaluated this film as a powerful movie that hadn't some clear problems that another films have like showing some strange and unusual women.
