Storyline

In the distant past, a Japanese samurai embarks on a mission to defeat the evil shape-shifting wizard Aku. Before he can complete his task, though, he is catapulted thousands of years into the future. He finds himself in a world where Aku now enjoys complete power over every living thing. Dubbing himself "Jack," he sets out on a new quest--to right the wrongs that have been done by his enemy and to find a way back to his own time so he can destroy the evil for good. Trivia

When Samurai Jack came back for its 5th season, it got a lot of support from fans as the show shifted from airing on the usual Cartoon Network to Adult Swim. This interesting shift meant that the writers had a more creative way to advance the plot without the restrictions placed by Cartoon Network, whose target audience is children and young adults. Samurai Jack: 50 years have passed. But I do not age. Time has lost its effect on me. The suffering continues. Aku's grasp chokes the past, present and future. All hope is lost. Got to get back, back to the past, Samurai Jack.

Superb!
8 June 2010 | by See all my reviews

When I was first introduced to this show, I wasn't expecting to love it. I don't just love it, I adore it! I feared it wouldn't be my thing, but there are many reasons why Samurai Jack is worth seeing. The animation consistently is absolutely outstanding, the whole show is amazing to watch, whether it is the backgrounds, character features, special effects or the colours. The music is wonderful also, a perfect mix of oriental and electronic sounds really add to the authenticity. The story lines are superb and interesting springing from a great idea, and the writing is top notch, funny and intelligent. Likewise with the voice acting, with Phil LaMarr especially impressive in the title role. Overall, just a superb show, easily one of the better shows on Cartoon Network. 10/10 Bethany Cox
