"Jack Frost" is a short from Hal Roach Studios and it stars Snub Pollard as well as Noah Young and James Finlayson...three guys who often were supporting players in Roach films.
The story has a very meandering plot. In the first portion, not a lot happens and the story is mostly about how cold a morning it is. Later, things heat up, so to speak, when Will Fleesam (Finlayson) discovers oil on a ranch...and he and his confederates try to steal the deed to the property....and the rest of the film is essentially filled with chases.
This film clearly has few laughs...but at least the humor isn't slapstick...mindless hitting and kicking and wildly firing guns....none of that. As for Pollard, he's nominally the hero but he's done better and funnier work.
