Originally the police cars were going to use the New York City Police Department's blue and white paint scheme. A few screenshots of them can be seen in the map/poster that comes with the game (the best one is right under the word "Liberty" in the title "Welcome To Liberty City"). It is believed that the police cars were changed to the standard black and white paint scheme to make them not look like the NYPD cars because of the terrorist attacks on the USA of 11 September 2001.
The main character of this game, Claude, does not say a single word throughout the entire game, though you can hear him grunting when he falls after jumping and groaning if he ends up drowning in the river.
All of the songs featured on Flashback FM are from the movie Scarface (1983). Robert Loggia, who voiced Detective Ray Machowski, starred in Scarface as Frank Lopez.
The main character's name is later established as Claude. You can find this out after completing the storyline of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004). It is assumed that Claude is Claude Speed, the main character from Grand Theft Auto 2 (1999).
If the player shoots the moon with the sniper rifle, it will change sizes.
