Not Another Teen Movie (2001) Poster

Trivia

Jump to: Cameo (2)
Feature film debut of Chris Evans.
Star Nathan West proposed to Chyler Leigh on set, while filming the She's All That (1999) scene.
The studio was unhappy with the original ending of the film, prompting the makers of the film to seek Molly Ringwald's help.
Eric Christian Olsen's character, Austin, is a combination of Lance Harbor in Varsity Blues (1999) & Dean Sampson in She's All That (1999). Both of those characters were portrayed by Paul Walker.
Chris Evans (Jake Wyler) sang "Janie's Got a Gun" (by Aerosmith) at the stadium. During "Prom Tonight", the cast actually sings. No additional/backup voices were added.
A banner in the cafeteria says 'SAVE FERRIS' which is an homage to the John Hughes teen movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986).
During the big football game near the end, when a bunch of players run off the field, the name on one of the players' shirts is EXTRA.
The set of John Hughes High School in this film is the same set as Sunnydale High used in the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997).
Many teen movie veterans make cameos in this movie.
Nearly all the main cast - including Eric Christian Olsen, Mia Kirshner, Eric Jungmann, Jaime Pressly and Chris Evans - also star in Marilyn Manson's Tainted Love video. The video also includes Chyler Leigh's transformation from Janey to a goth.
The filmmakers couldn't get the rights to use footage from She's All That (1999) so they shot the scene with two different people (on the library set) and made the TV blurry so you couldn't tell.
The original title was "Teen Movie", but this was ditched as the movie got more and more... un-teen. Then the title was changed to "NOT A Teen Movie" because of this. Then it was changed to "Not Another Teen Movie" because of all the parodies and the fact that there were so many teen movies before it.
Good Charlotte is the house band at the prom.
Paul Gleason reprises his role of Richard Vernon from The Breakfast Club (1985) in a scene which parodies it almost word for word.
Molly Ringwald would not do another film for 14 years until Jem and the Holograms (2015), which is another teen movie.
In Russia, the film is entitled "Not a Children's Movie".
Jaime Pressly's character is named Priscilla after Priscilla Presley, for whom Jaime is sometimes mistaken.
Cerina Vincent, who plays Areola the naked foreign exchange student, is known for playing Maya the Yellow Ranger on Power Rangers Lost Galaxy (1999). This makes her one of the few Power Ranger actors to appear nude onscreen.
When Jake is running after Janey after prom, he stops at a red light. The building on the corner is named Spicoli's TV Repair, a clear nod to the Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) quote from Jeff Spicoli: "My old man is a TV repairman".
Buildings in the movie are named for makers of the movies that are being parodied. For example, John Hughes High School, "Anthony Michael Dining Hall" (Anthony Michael Hall), and "Harry Dean Stadium" (Harry Dean Stanton).
Ron Lester's character, Reggie Ray, is a spoof of Billy Bob in Varsity Blues (1999), who was also portrayed by Lester.
The hotel featured at the end of the "Prom Tonight" song is the same one used as "Ludwig Towers" in The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988). The entrance can be seen in Naked Gun during the stake out after Frank & Jane's date.
In Spain, the movie was released under the title "This is not another dumb American movie".
Chris Evans played the character Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four (2005) which was originally supposed to be played by Paul Walker. In this movie, Austin is portraying Paul Walker's character from two films, She's All That (1999) and Varsity Blues (1999).
Cody McMains appears in this movie, as well as Bring It On (2000), which is spoofed in this movie.

Chris Evans had trouble shooting his scenes with Mia Kershner. Particularly having to reject her pleas for sex as she was grinding on him. As he was apparently very turned on.
