Marco Antonio Campos and Gaspar Henaine were proud of this movie; they said it was "the first one that has real quality." Henaine was a cousin of Emilio Kuri, who worked for Walt Disney. Campos and Henaine met with Kuri in Los Angeles to discuss the possibility of making a Viruta and Capulina movie for Disney. They also planned to send Kuri a print of Cascabelito so Disney could see their best work.
María Elena Velasco, the future star of the India María movies, appears as one of the dancers in Nina's musical number. Velasco's husband, actor and choreographer Julián de Meriche, also has a role in this movie.
