Ponch and Jon Return in CHiPs Movie Character Posters

23 February 2017 11:01 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Warner Bros. has released two new character posters for the highly-anticipated CHiPs remake, featuring the new Jon Baker (Dax Shepard) and Frank 'Ponch' Poncherello (Michael Pena). While these officers may certainly be unorthodox, Ponch has a "mind for action" while Jon possesses and "appetite for justice," although these posters don't necessarily reflect that. Jon is seen spilling his lunch on his uniform, while Ponch is seen holding a woman's bra. They're clearly two of the California Highway Patrol's finest.

The movie is based on the original TV series of the same name, where motorcycle officers Jon Baker (Larry Wilcox) and Frank "Ponch" Poncherello (Erik Estrada) cruised the freeways of Los Angeles, solving crimes and helping people in trouble. The show debuted on NBC on September 15, 1977 and ran for 6 seasons. While the season finale aired in May 1983, Ponch and Jon would return more than a decade later. Stars Erik Estrada and »

Oscars: 'Manchester by the Sea' Star Lucas Hedges Talks Wanting to Find Love Onscreen and in Real Life

Hedges is making his Oscar debut for his role as Casey Affleck's nephew, Patrick, in Kenneth Lonergan's Manchester by the Sea, but there's already a past nominee in the family: His dad, screenwriter Peter Hedges, was nominated for adapting Nick Hornby's About a Boy in 2003.

At 20, Hedges is the youngest acting nominee this year. He's currently performing in the off-Broadway playYen, but took a quick break to speak with THR about carving his own path.

What were your first conversations with Lonergan about?

I came in with a very emotional interpretation of a few of his scenes the »

Exclusive Interview: Director Chris McKay and Producer Dan Lin on The Lego Batman Movie

30 January 2017 5:45 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Thomas Harris chats with Chris McKay and Dan Lin about The Lego Batman Movie (some minor spoilers follow)…

I had the pleasure to talk to Chris McKay and producer Dan Lin about the rather brilliant The Lego Batman Movie. A quick note on director McKay who, looking like a Williamsburg hipster, had Batman and Marvel tattoos across both arms. A clear super-fan then; who better to direct a film distilling 78 years of comic folklore into 90 minutes?

First off, Michael Jackson (Mj is mentioned a lot throughout the movie), why Michael Jackson?

McKay: You’re dealing with a movie about a guy who is being forced to realise he needs to change his life if he wants to improve and get over his main problem. Initially it started because we wanted a quote in the beginning of the movie because I thought that’d be funny as a self important Batman »

Skins: revisiting E4’s teen anthology 10 years on

Skins debuted on E4 10 years ago. We revisit a bold and unique adolescent drama that kick-started countless careers...

It’s been a decade since Skins, E4’s controversial teen drama, premiered. At the time, it was a source of anxiety for parents about what teenagers were getting up to when they weren’t looking, but for television executives it was pure gold. It achieved that rare feat - it got young people to watch and talk about it - and, after seven years of drinking, drugs and general debauchery, it bowed out in 2013.

Now it’s simply another teen drama of the past, perhaps remembered by most for the real-world ‘Skins Parties’ it inspired rather than the steps it took or the ground it broke. Whether it was casting complete unknowns, »

First CHiPs Movie Footage Has Insane Action and Big Laughs

11 January 2017 11:57 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Following the first CHiPs photo released last month, Warner Bros. has debuted the first poster and a brief trailer preview, giving fans a sneak peek before the first full trailer is unveiled tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The trailer preview gives us our first look at Jon Baker (Dax Shepard) and Frank "Ponch" Poncharello (Michael Pena) in action, as they begin their new partnership as members of the California Highway Patrol. If that wasn't enough, we also have the first poster, which shows Baker and Ponch doing a little fist bump while they ride through a crime scene.

The trailer preview, which debuted on the new Warner Bros. Twitter account for the movie, shows Ponch crashing his bike while in pursuit of a suspect, along with the catchy tagline "Bros before PoPos." Last month, Warner Bros. pushed CHiPs up to a spring release date of March 24, after the studio delayed »

One thing we all look forward to every year is our birthday, and we here at Cineplex like to celebrate the birthdays of movies too!

In 2017, there are tons of memorable films that are hitting milestone ages. While it makes us feel a little old, it also gives us a reason to look back on some of our favourite films and have epic movie marathons (oftentimes, ones where we know all of the lines).

We did some research and compiled a master list of all of the notable films that are celebrating big anniversaries this year. Among the crop are films like Titanic, Blade Runner, The Graduate, and more.
