The presence of attractive blonde porno star Nancy Martin is the only reason to watch HYPNO SEX, part of a DVD-R double feature pairing her opposite character porn man Keith Erickson in Vol. 139 of Something Weird's Dragon Art Theatre series.
Film is also erroneously listed (and double counted) in IMDb (I'm trying to fix this) as YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD DOCTOR, based on its DVD issue by Historic Erotica/Global Media Intl. as "Neighborhood Doctor". The Global print has washed-out (faded) color and is not recommended.
Threadbare premise for this nearly all-sex opus is as corny as possible: Betty (played by Nancy Martin) has mistaken her doctor's house for that of Hugh (Keith Erickson), and he pretends to be a colleague doctor, hypnotizing her with his watch & chain to have sex with him. The underlying gimmick is of course a wish-fulfillment plot device for the male audience, who presumably couldn't get laid even if they were masters of mesmerism.
Non-story unfolds in a needlessly convoluted flashback structure, of conceivable interest perhaps to only one guy: IMDb's most pretentious reviewer "tedg", king of folds. Past his prime, comical porn vet Erickson shows plenty of folds, of flab that is, in this baby.
Ric Lutze shows up as private dick Stan Cummings, hired by Betty's husband Mr. Sparks to keep tabs on her. Film's zero-based budget consists of a tape recorder and headphones as Ric is shown listening in on Hugh's activities, taping incriminating evidence of his dalliances with Betty.
Martin is quite striking in this film, boasting an all-over tan that contrasts markedly with Erickson's clammy, pale and unappealing appearance (not too stimulating, erotically, as a couple). In the other film on the double bill, TALE OF BEARDED CLAM/MINI SKIRT HEIST, she is several years younger and just as pale as Keith.
The other women in the 6-person cast are unknowns, for good reason. One is a quite ugly redhead playing Sally and the brunette is nondescript, in the role of Rose. Anonymous director has both of them playing footsie (briefly) with the actors' packages, perhaps the only interesting element of the production.
Oral sex is the name of the game for this 1-day wonder, with only a minimum of intercourse depicted. In fact, filmmakers' incompetence in shooting the real-time (practically no editing) sex scenes has the actual humping coming off as softcore, since no closeup inserts or proper camera angles reveal the XXX penetration beyond oral action. Erickson, beyond his usual ad libs, earns his keep with repeated money shots on cue.
He's telling his story, of how he's used the hypnosis angle to create a string of 16 female customers (paying him as fake doc $25 per weekly visit), to his nephew, who agrees to share the sexual burden with uncle. Ric, feeling underpaid by Betty's husband, follows suit and forces his way into the partnership, only to be outwitted by Erickson (using hypnosis, natch) in the final reel.
This is truly half-hearted, lame porn. The musical track, alternating an attempted virtuoso rock guitar soloist with a very drowsy jazz sax player, doesn't help. It's generic porn with Nancy unable to save the day.
