Welcome to Career Watch, a vocational checkup of top actors and directors, and those who hope to get there. In this edition we take on Working Title producers Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, whose latest hit is Edgar Wright’s wheel-and-disc-spinning breakout “Baby Driver” (June 28, Sony), which has tracked $64 million worldwide to date.

Bottom Line: This brainy duo with plummy British accents have been turning out a consistent slate of smart global hits since the ’80s. The London-based co-chairmen of Working Title boast the best taste in the business. They chase mainstream quality fare. That’s their gig. But even so over the years, partnering with Universal Pictures, with freedom to greenlight movies up to $35 million, their films have grossed an impressive almost $7 billion dollars worldwide.

Johnny English 3 announced, Rowan Atkinson returning

21 May 2017 9:42 PM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Simon Brew May 22, 2017

Rowan Atkinson will return for a third Johnny English movie, that's expected to be in cinemas in 2018.

Rowan Atkinson is heading back to the big screen, and he’s set to reprise the role of Johnny English in a third movie adventure.

Currently going by the title of Johnny English 3 (although expect that to change), Atkinson’s character is a spoof of James Bond, originating from credit card commercials. But 2003’s Johnny English and 2011’s Johnny English Reborn both did solid box office, and a third movie is now due to start shooting before the year is out.

Pre-production has already begun on the movie, although the full cast has yet to be locked down. Johnny English 3 is expected in cinemas in October 2018.

As we get further details on the movie, we’ll pass them your way…

Rowan Atkinson returning for Johnny English 3

21 May 2017 4:00 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It looks like Rowan Atkinson’s bumbling British spy Johnny English is set for a return to the big screen, with Chortle reporting that pre-production is underway on a third movie, which will start shooting in the autumn ahead of a cinema release in October 2018.

The character of Johnny English, a spoof of James Bond, originated in a series of adverts for Barclaycard, albeit under the name of Richard Latham. The character made the jump to the big screen with 2003’s Johnny English, which was followed in 2011 by the sequel Johnny English Reborn. Both films grossed $160 million apiece during their theatrical runs.

Atkinson had previously said that he was hoping to revive the character, stating that: “He’s fun and he’s rather human. I think he’s a rather realistic character. Perhaps he’s a more realistic and believable character than James Bond, in many ways. James Bond is just a superman. »

Just when you thought it you was safe from that buffoon of a spy from ever making a return – no not Bond but his parody counterpart, Johnny English is marking a return to the big screen as its rumoured pre-production has already begun.

Making his return as English is the comedy stalwart Rowan Atkinson in the titular role but for now that’s all we’re getting as a plot or full cast list are yet to be announced. However, what we do know is that filing is due to commence in the autumn with a release slated for October 2018.

The spoof spy advantage seems to be following a pattern of releasing sequels eight years apart from one another. We last saw Atkinson as English back in 2011 in Johnny English Reborn where After a disastrous mission in Mozambique, he »
