The show takes place 8290 km from Las Vegas, but the title (= Far away from Las Vegas) also refers to how different the character's lifestyle and the show itself is to the glamorous, American way. Being an adaptation of the American genre sit-com.

After each season run the cast would meet with Danish talk-show host Michael Meyerheim to reflect on past episodes and discuss where the series was heading. These 3 half-hour TV-specials, broadcast by TV 2/Zulu, were promoted as 'Langt fra Las Vegas Specials', although this title was never used onscreen. The TV-specials are Langt fra Las Vegas vs. Michael Meyerheim (2002) (reflecting on season 2), Langt fra Las Vegas i nærheden af Meyerheim (2002) (reflecting on season 3) and Langt fra Las Vegas møder Meyerheim (2003) (reflecting on season 4).

The next project of Casper Christensen, Frank Hvam and Lars Hjortshøj after "Casper & Mandrilaftalen" ended. The fourth co-star Lasse Rimmer became the host of Danish version of "Jeopardy!", but contributes as screenwriter and has two cameo appearances during the show.
