Casting The New Indiana Jones – Thn’s Hot Picks

21 hours ago | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Amidst the flood of Star Wars hype that is currently clogging up the internet, the House of Mouse today shed a hopeful glimmer of light on that Other little franchise that just so happens to now sit in Uncle Walt’s pocket: Indiana Jones.

Speaking to Vanity Fair magazine, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy dropped the bomb that a fifth outing for the whip-cracking archaeologist is most certainly on the cards, stating that an Indiana Jones sequel “will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I’m not quite sure. We haven’t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it.”

And while we at The Hollywood News are, of course, huge fans of Harrison Ford, the simple fact is that there is only so long that Mr. Han Solo can keep cracking that whip without risking busting a hip. While a fifth film is, »

The purchase of Lucasfilm by Disney may have lead to several new Star Wars movies dotting the horizon, but the purchase also means another major franchise now lives in the House of Mouse: Indiana Jones. Now, that changes with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy revealing to Vanity Fair that Indy 5 “will one day be made inside this company”. But, while she’s optimistic that it will one happen, she also added that it is very early days at this stage, “When it will happen I’m not quite sure. Kathleen Kennedy Confirms New Indiana Jones Film Is In Early Development

5 May 2015 8:34 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Star Wars was undoubtedly the crown jewel in Lucasfilm’s vault that attracted the attention of Disney prior to the company’s acquisition, though the House of Mouse also hold the cards to a certain, fedora-wearing professor. All is quiet on the Indiana Jones front as of late, ever since Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt was attached to a potential reboot; however, according to Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, a franchise relaunch is currently incubating in the early stages of development.

Kennedy didn’t divulge much more other than confirming its existence, though news of Jones’ return – however far off it proves to be – is still worth getting excited for. Speaking to Vanity Fair during the outlet’s coverage of The Force Awakens, here’s what the current boss had to say about having another crack of the whip.

“In buying the company, Disney also got rights, for better or worse, »

Second Star Wars Anthology Film Moves on Without Josh Trank

1 May 2015 4:59 PM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

After persistent rumors and a sudden bow out from his appearance at Star Wars Celebration, it's been offiically announced that Josh Trank is no longer attached to direct the second Star Wars Anthology movie.  Come inside to see his statement on the departure.

In June of last year, Lucasfilm announced that Josh Trank (Chronicle and the new Fantastic Four movie) would be helming the second Star Wars spin-off movie, now known as Anthology films.  He seemed a solid choice at the time with a lot of potential in his future...but then some rumblings started happening about his Fantastic Four film.  Things that weren't very good, and even as early as November/December of last year, there was word that Disney might be dumping him.

Those rumors seemed to be put aside (and I was Very shocked) when it was announced he'd be taking part in a panel at Star Wars Celebration. »

Disney Infinity 3.0 Starter Pack Leak Reveals Star Wars The Clone Wars Characters

30 April 2015 9:55 PM, PDT | TheHDRoom | See recent TheHDRoom news »

Begun, the Clone Wars has in the upcoming Disney Infinity 3.0 game as a second European retailer leak has outed the game's Starter Pack and surprising inclusive figures.

The idea that Star Wars would be at the forefront of Disney Infinity 3.0 has been around for months and wryly confirmed by Avalanche Software and Disney Interactive in various remarks dropped during that time. With a Force renaissance or rebirth rapidly approaching later this year with the theatrical release of Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, it makes all the sense in the world for Disney to use Star Wars this year for the third Disney Infinity installment.

What's frankly shocking about this leak from German retailer Saturn is that the Disney Infinity 3.0 Starter Pack comes packaged with two characters, Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker, based on the cancelled Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV show that ran for five seasons on the Cartoon Network. »

23 April 2015 2:58 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Even though Jack the Giant Slayer didn't fare too well at the box office, Disney wants another crack at the classic fable. Deadline reports the House of Mouse has picked up Beanstalk, yet another revisionist take on the familiar tale of Jack and the Beanstalk. However, this one just might get your attention, because the detailed outline that inspired Disney to pick u pthe project comes from "Breaking Bad" and its spin-off series "Better Call Saul" creator Vince Gilligan. And if you're a fan of those shows, you'll also be glad to hear the script will come from of the Emmy-winning writers, Thomas Schauz. Sounds like a sweet deal. As of now, there aren't any details on how this new take on the classic tale will go, but we'll trust in Gilligan that he's crafted something original. And since Disney is the one who picked it up, that certainly gives it some weight as well. »

The project has been in the works for years ever since del Toro made the announcement at Comic-Con back in 2010. Can it finally come together soon? The ‘Tron’ Is On: Olivia Wilde Uploaded To Third Movie

7 April 2015 11:00 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

It may not have set the box office alight in 1982, but digital realm saga Tron is developing nicely thirty-odd years on. Belated sequel Legacy followed in 2010, and after its success a further instalment was on the computerized cards. This prospect has now received a boost, thanks to the confirmed involvement of some key talent.

While producers Disney have yet to put neon pen to black paper and launch the project, sequel stars Olivia Wilde and Garrett Hedlund are attached to reprise their roles as Quorra and Sam Flynn. Director Joseph Kosinski is also back to line the lenses.

There’s no word on whether original actors Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner are revving up for more cyber-bike-based mayhem. Daft Punk composed the score for the most recent film, and may well be buying more synthesizers for Tron 3. Justin Springer has been named as producer.

Marc Alan Fishman: Deadpool Will Kill DC To Death

4 April 2015 5:00 AM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

This evening, whilst pondering and pontificating over what point I should pencil in the ole’ puter, I stumbled across this clip and its pretty sister clip. Suffice to say, color me curious, kiddos.

Contrary to the predilections of our esteemed Emily W. over here on ComicMix, I’ve never been fond of the Merc with a Mouth™. More often than not, I’ve found him to be a useful tool for a writer to take a short catnap and still be paid. I’ve often found most iterations of the chimichanga eating, joke cutting, kill-first-ask-questions-why ‘Pool to be lighter than light fare. I mean, check-off your aforementioned beats (with the chimichangas, and killing, and the what-not) and end it incoherently, and voila! Instant noodles in comic book form. Now with the character coming to the silver screen, the Marvel and Fox co-production will face becoming more than a farce to »

So, as it stands at the moment, Disney are digging into their back catalogue, and following Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent, and Cinderella, over the next couple of years we are getting live action remakes of The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, and Mulan, as well as a remake of Pete's Dragon, and the James Bobin (The Muppets) directed Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass, the sequel to the movie that kicked off this whole new trend for the House of Mouse. You'd think that would be a full plate for them, but no, they've added another live action remake to their upcoming slate, with Deadline revealing that indie film maker Ross Perry has been lined up to bring Winnie the Pooh back to the big screen. Director of last year's Sundance favorite Listen Up Philip, starring Jason Schwartzman and Jonathan Pryce, Perry seems like an odd choice, »

Disney Also Working on a Live-Action 'Winnie the Pooh' Adaptation

Earlier this week we learned that Disney was continuing to raid their animated film library for titles to be give live-action remakes with development of a new take on Mulan in the works. Now Deadline reports The House of Mouse will turn the classic property Winnie the Pooh into a live-action feature film as well. This seems a little strange considering the live-action remakes that have been made so far have focused on human characters, but Disney did recently set Tim Burton to direct a new version of Dumbo as well. Even more peculiar is that Listen Up Philip director Alex Ross Perry will be scripting. So how will this work? The story is said to focus on Christopher Robin as an adult as he returns to Hundred Acre Wood and reunites with the silly old bear from A.A. Milne's classic stories. Writing duo Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek (in their first feature film deal) have been hired to script the first pass at the project, but there will likely be a rewrite by another more established scribe before it goes in front of cameras. It's great that they brought female writers on to start. Chris Bender and J.C. Spink (of Benderspink) are producing the new adaptation, and it's a smart project for them to jump on board.
