Storyline

A kid named Reggie Reynolds is a high school student who is good in the classroom but not so good on the basketball court. But one day he meets a junk dealer who gives him a pair of old gym shoes that once were worn by an all-star in the Negro Basketball leagues in the 1930s. Reggie puts the red sneakers on and he is immediately playing like a superstar on the basketball court. He gets the attention of a major shoe company executive who wants Reggie to switch from the old red sneakers that he is wearing to his company's brand. But Reggie knows if he's not wearing those magical old red sneakers he is back on the sideline. Written by mts77

Interesting little film.

This is the story of a kid named Reggie. He's good at math but wishes he could play basketball. When he meets a strange junk collector named Zeke, he gets an old pair of sneakers. These sneakers help him to be a good ball player without practicing, but now a shoe company exec is trying to get rid of Reggie's shoes so people will lose interest.

I really thought this was a delightful little film. It was also directed by Gregory Hines, who plays the role of Zeke, and I think he did a fine job at both. This is really aimed at children, but I can enjoy pretty much everything. If you have kids who like basketball than they might want to watch this the next time it comes on TV.
