Beautiful film..
filmfreak-511 May 2003
This is a marvellous movie, a bit of dogma style and than again not at all. In my opinions this film indeed has the potentiel to be apart of the new danish wave of films, but for some reason it has been rather overlooked. It has incredible performances by brilliant actors such as Peter Gantzler, Dorte Rømer, Johnny Melville and a lot of others. Give this one a chance if you can find it, it is definately worth it!!!

An excellent improvised film which carries a 'dogma' style but with a positive view about life - Johnny Melville is as brilliant as ever

Nina Rosenmeier has to be congratulated on this fine feature debut. The film was apparently improvised by actors who are now well known in the Danish circles and even beyond. Scottish actor Johnny Melville's portrayal of the confused angry Dennis is well worth the award he received at the Brooklyn Film Festival 2001. His performance is subtle, riveting and exciting. Other notable performances include the delectable Andrea Vogn Jensen and the gentle method actor Peter Ganzler. Rosenmeier's direction at times lacks rythm but generally as a first feature for a zero budget it deserves high praise. It marks a striking contrast with the typical depressive negativity which characterises much of the dogma styles Danish cinema. Strange that in Denmark it is not even listed in many movie archives, although it was a nominee for the Danish ROBERT prize

Melville is excellent

Fantastic film - Johnny Melville is absolutely brilliant - he weaves his way through this film like the experienced actor he is - expressing his various tonalities and with real style. The improvisation is sharp and relevant and never sentimental. He really carries the cast with him who do their best to keep up and with him and some of them especially Andrea Vogn Jensen manage to be inspired. It is really fitting that Melville won the Best actor prize in Brooklyn Film Festival in 2001 and it is strange he is not featured in more movies. I saw him perform of course his well known one man shows but it is all the more worth to see him in a movie. I hope he will play in more
