HBO presents this sordid special that focuses on sex featured in international television programs.
RuPaul narrates this controversial special that aired on HBO, hi-lighting television programs from around the world that feature sex in them. Most of the shows are sleazy late-night cable shows that show a bit of breast or flash a bit of butt, but there's nothing really 'shocking' in this series as you get to see more flesh in an original episode of HBO's other sexually-driven series, "REAL SEX".
Some shows that are hi-lighted in "SHOCK VIDEO 2001" would include shows from Australia, one of special mis-leading note would be "STAR CROSSED LOVERS" which was in fact a late-night infomercial that featured scantily clad 'hopefuls' seeking their soul mates via a party hot-line. Another clip that was shown would be the 'singing penis' clip that kicked off the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras festivities in the Year 2000. If you've ever seen one of those "ADULT COMMERCIALS THAT YOU'VE NEVER SEEN" specials, nearly half of the stuff featured in "SHOCK VIDEO 2001" has already been seen before.
Some outstanding clips would include the midget with piercings who elevates objects from the ground using none other than his you-know-what, and a hilarious segment on adult animation that features a commercial for Viagra that satires evolution and the extinction of dinosaurs.
Other than that, "SHOCK VIDEO 2001" is really nothing more than "SEEN IT ALL BEFORE VIDEO 2001". RuPaul's narration is somewhat colorful - some amusing dialogue would include the segment which she refers to as being "FLAT-tulent" when describing the farting performance a man gives while lying on his back and 'tooting' out the rhythm to Deep Purple's "Haze On The Water".
What can I say - this show is really just 'check your brain at the door' material, but it's an hour of laughs guaranteed.
My Rating - 5 out of 10.
