Trivia

A rare trend took place in this event. None of the five nominees in the Best Art Direction-Set Decoration category were period movies. Four of them were stories set in the present time (1977) and one in the future - which was the winner, Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977). See more »

50 Years of movie stardom
10 February 2001 | by (Warren, MI) – See all my reviews

This was the Golden year of cinema. A tribute to all who contributed to the entertainment industry. It was also the first and last time that a tribute was made to the young juvenile actors who previously won an award. Peggy Ann Garner and Margaret O'Brien were part of a "Big Parade" of previous oscar winners.
