Kutcher makes house-sitting worth the while.
19 August 2004 | by (Ottawa, Canada) – See all my reviews

---Possible Spoilers---

"House-sitting"? Really... Let me explain.

First of all, you got Kutcher. Ashton, the King of Punk'd. Then you add the sexy Tara Reid in. Kutcher's character has to win the girl and impress his ruthless boss.

Sounds like a teen movie so far, right? Wrong. Even though you get "teen" elements like adding the unnecessary Carmen Electra in, the movie is still decent on its own.

To get promoted, Tom (Kutcher) has to house-sit his boss' house. Feeding his owl, watching T.V, watching the fish, that sort of thing. It's all good for about 5 minutes until the drug-dealing brother of Lisa (Reid) comes and he claims he's got a restraining order from his father and sister. One person leads to another and soon after, the house becomes a filthy, broken hell-hole crowded with drunk, drug-doing uninvited guests. Sounds like a teen movie but really, it's just a comedy with "teen" elements.

There's a sexy scene with the lovely Tara Reid, great comedy from Kutcher and other minor stars and the final 20 minutes unravels very unpredictably. This movie focuses really on the 3 main characters and a lot of minor characters. At one point, they're all in the house at one time.

It's essentially a decent comedy with Kutcher; I got what I expected. I recommend watching this if you haven't already but you should wait until this comes out on 7-Day Rental. Not bad but not great overall. If you really want to see the King of Punk'd in a great movie, I strongly suggest you to watch The Butterfly Effect.

My Rating: 5.5/10 (A High 5.5)
