The scene where Authority of Rajveer Singh, enacted by Sunny Deol, was questioned was already shot with Abhishek Sharma. Later on the sets Kaivalya Chheda imitated Sunny Deol and performed one of his monologues from movie Ghatak: Lethal (1996). Quasar Films Pvt Ltd's "Champion" was launched in 1987/89 with Sunny Deol,Naseeruddin Shah and Tabu. This was to be Tabu's first film as a heroine before Prem. Shekhar Kapur was producing and directing the film. The film's story line was based on a champion track and field runner. Shekhar decided to use the script for Bobby Deol's debut film Badal. Later, Shekhar Kapur decided he did not want to direct the film and left the project. In those days Anil Kapoor kept asking Shekhar why he did not sign him for the film. But Shekhar told Anil he did not suit the role of a track and field runner. Sunny Deol was the better choice. The film was restarted with a new subject with Raveena Tandon as the heroine in 1999. Raveena eventually left the film due to problems and Manisha Koirala replaced her. Incidently Shekhar Kapur wanted Manisha Koirala for the film back in 1989. But Manisha refused to pose in a bikini for a photo shoot and lost the film.
Inspired from Mercury Rising.
Sunny Deol spotted Amisha Patel in 1998 and wanted her for the film. But Padam Kumar thought she was too young looking for him.
Farz Ki Keemat (1983) was originally titled "Champion".
