OK post-SCREAM slasher

DO YOU WANNA KNOW A SECRET? (2001)

starring: Joey Lawrence, Dorie Barton, Jeff Conaway, Chad Allen, Tom Jay Jones, Leonora Scelfo, Elsie Escobar, Jack McGee.

plot: One year ago, Beth's (Dorie Barton) boyfriend was mysteriously murdered in his dorm room and the killer was never found, the only clue was a letter slipped under his door saying "Do you wanna know a secret?" Beth is now dating hunky Hank (Joey Lawrence) and they go to Florida along with their best friends (Chad Allen, Tom Jay Jones, Leonora Scelfo, Elsie Escobar), and are planning on having lots of fun. But a masked killer stalks and kills them one by one as a detective (Jeff Conaway) and a Chief (Jack McGee) hunt the killer down and the friends wonder who it is.

the good: This was a fun teen slasher in the vein of SCREAM and I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER which has very good mystery. You'd never guess the identity of the killer!

It also has typical slasher elements. The virgin Beth (Dorie Barton), the hunky boyfriend Hank (Joey Lawrence), the bad boy desperately trying to win the heart of the virgin, Brad (Chad Allen), the stereotypical black-dude Oz (Tom Jay Jones), the slut after the virgin's hunky boyfriend, Tina (Leonora Scelfo) and the Latino dating the black dude, Nellie (Elsie Escobar). Not to mention a masked killer, a murder mystery, an opening murder, etc.

I definitely had some fun with this SCREAM clone.

The detective played by Jeff Conaway was a good character. He was very determined and sympathetic as the Dr. Loomis-type guy.

One more thing, the score often set a darker mood. It was kinda creepy!

the bad: One thing, some of the dialog by the teen cast was just dumb. Do teens really talk like that?

I also thought the Chief dude played by Jack McGee was extremely annoying and deserved to die on screen (his death if off screen).

And the thing that peed me off the most: Now, even the identity of the killer surprised me, his/her motives for murder was just dumb. Thats the secret? I've been watching two hours for that? But I was still having fun.
