A charming memory

I saw this cartoon as a child and lived in awe of San Francisco's slugging outfielder Willie Mays. He wasn't much of an actor and the storyline (which depicts Mays as a young outfielder who is assisted in making an impossible catch by a guardian angel) is a typically shallow and conventional affirmation of simplistic family values, but there is no denying a certain charm to its innocence and hero-worshiping attitude towards Mays. Mainstream viewers will probably not find much interest in its crudely animated moralizing, but it will be fascinating to hardcore baseball fans as a curiosity in the career of a legendary athlete.
