Actor Dennis Farina died suddenly Monday morning in Scottsdale, Arizona after suffering a blood clot in his lung. He was 69 years old.Farina was a star of film and TV. Among his most memorable small screen roles were on "Law & Order," "Luck" and "New Girl."He famously played mobsters Jimmy Serrano in "Midnight Run" and Ray "Bones" Barboni in "Get Shorty."Farina is survived by his longtime love Marianne Cahill, three sons and six grandchildren. His costars, friends and fans took to Twitter to express their condolences. Fame is a fleeting fox that outruns most. Sometimes, notoriety outshines its own spotlight. Whether through the casting couch or blood, sweat and tears, the occasional performer will squeak through to the other side and achieve a modicum of accolades. Some are worthwhile, while others are unbearable. We all have that irritating nitpick of an actor who occasional, and suddenly, pops up in a movie just when the getting is good, and it swerves the car completely off the road. "Who invited this guy?" we ask ourselves, hoping s/he gets killed off before we have to get up out of our seat and ask for our money back.
It's a mild irritation, all things considered.
